I only bought this CD because I'm a huge fan of Brendan Kelly's songwriting. Unfortunately, his acoustic renderings didn't catch my ear, which is odd since I love his Wandering Birds side project. And I'm not a fan of Smoke Or Fire, so none of McMahon's songs grabbed me. Needless to say, I didn't keep any of the 14 tracks on my iPod.
Like The Ramones, you know exactly what you're getting when picking up a Copyrights CD: inoffensive pop-punk. REPORT doesn't come close in greatness to LEARN THE HARD WAY, but it has its moments. I'm keeping the following tracks on my iPod: "Slider", "Stuck in the Fall", "This World Is Such a Drag", "Keep the Change", "No Knocks", "Wishbone", and "Basement".
Pretty good. Too many tunes, though -- they should have probably left off three or four tracks. Favourite songs are "The Great Big Nothing" (open tracks usually rock), "The Killing Jar" (great melody), and "Today" (love that riff).
