This Is Hell -Warbirds 7

This Is Hell
Warbirds 7"

Pretty solid 7-inch. If you're into fast, aggressive, angry hardcore punk, you'll like this! One album track, 2 new tracks, and 2 covers make this a very nice release (unlike a lot of 7-inch records having only album versions, or alternate takes that sound almost identical...) leaving you feelinf fulfilled in under 10 minutes! Plus, it comes with a digital download, so no worries for all you folks without a turntable

Propagandhi -How To Clean A Couple Of Things 7

Propagandhi
How To Clean A Couple Of Things 7"

Now this brings me back! There was this guy in high school who only bought 7-inch records, he refused to pay any money for full-lengths, or even cdeps! Weird dude, but anyways, at the time, this was by far the best 7-inch he had, and we lsitened the crap out of this one! Of course, we could've just listened to the cds but he did have a point, there's just something special about vinyl... Plus, Pigs Will Pay was only available on this 7-inch at the time, so bonus! I also liked the touch of making this record like a true 45, with the large whole in the middle (yes, you need the adapter kiddies!). Like most 7-inch records in this digital age, this is a great collector's item, but the tracks are available on cd now so...

Wake Up On Fire
Wake Up On Fire LP

I have to admit, I haven't heard anything like this before... Wake Up on Fire remind me quite a bit of the bands I was exposed to when I first started getting into the aggressive music scene.... Bands like Buried Inside, Acrid and even Love Lost but Not Forgotten came to mind as I listened to this LP. So, why am I saying it's like somehting I've never heard? At first glance, anyone would say it's the cello, but it goes much deeper than that! The eclectic guitars that seemlessly pave a road between heavily aggressive to beautifully spooky, combined with strong rythmics in a style you wouldn't necessarily attribute to this genre, form a sound that is unique amidst a sea of similar groups. Well wortht he listen, and the purchase!

Burnt By The Sun
Soundtrack To The Personal Revolution (White) LP

The opening, eerie track Rebecca in no way prepares you for the brutal reality awaiting you! Grindy, heavy, to-the-point, this album is perfect for any fan of aggressive music the likes of Ion Dissonance and such, yet has an element of "listenability" making it more accessible than some of its counterparts. Plus, it come son a sweet and creamy white vinyl! Just buy it already!

Caliban
Undying Darkness (German Import) LP

I've been into Caliban since "A Small Boy in a Grey Heaven", I have watched they grow from a group of angry German boys making aggressive, at times chaotic metal into a group of men making mean, thought-out metal that can get to you and leave you breathless at times. Liek most bands, they've gone through their ups and downs in a their career, and unfortunately, this album would be more belong in the "down" portion of their career. It's not that it's a bad album, it just sounds like an album where the band is searching for themselves, and their later releases are much better for it! Anyways, this LP comes sealed i a gatefold, and is limited! Awesome addition to my collection (I haven't even taken the shrink wrap off yet!)

Norma Jean -I Guess That Comes From Being Poor CD

Norma Jean
I Guess That Comes From Being Poor CD

Not what you think! I didn't do my research and bought this cd thinking it was Norma Jean the hardcore-metal type band and NOT Norma Jean, the 1950's country singer! If you like her music, by all means pick this up, but if you're looking for the heavy, grinding sounds of today's Norma Jean, you might be in for a surprise....

Bane -Los Angeles 3:58PM 7

Bane
Los Angeles 3:58PM 7"

Part of a very nice set of releases from Bane. I especially enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek naming of the songs afdter soap operas and the 7" Los Angeles (until I realized ALL the songs on ALL the 7" are named after soap operas...). Anyways... these new tracks from Bane do not disappoint! Bane is Bane, putting a new touch on the old-school! Three great hardcore tracks and, if you can afford it, having all 4 7" is a very nice collector's piece...

Straight Faced -Confidence 7

Straight Faced
Confidence 7"

Not many people today know (or remember) Straight Faced. This band is pretty interesting, hardcore-punk but with a little twist making them a bit different, that was until they signed on to Epitaph, tried their hand at rap-metal stuff (was popular at the time) and failed. Regardless, this 3 song offering is much more in the vein of their earlier stuff, and is a lot of fun!

Strife -Grey/To An End 7

Strife
Grey/To An End 7"

A nice 7" to add tyo your collection if you don't already have it. he best track is the b-side, "To an End" but both tracks are solid. This is more a collector's thing nowadays than anything else.

Intensity -The Ruins Of Our Future LP

Intensity
The Ruins Of Our Future LP

All I knew of Intensity before I picked up this LP came from the "This is Bad Taste" comps (circa 1999). Back then they were, fast, aggressive hardcore. Short, in-your-face songs that pack a wallop! Glad to say sounds like before, maybe just a tad bit angrier.
