Witch Hunt
...As Priorities Decay LP

Despite their more recent addition of a second guitarist and release "Blood Red States", this LP takes the cake. It sums up perfectly what Witch Hunt is all about. They make it perfectly clear that they are not involved in the crust punk scene to get fucked up and shout out vague, empty slogans of autonomy and anti-imperialism. Witch Hunt's female/male trio has their eyes set on the target of bringing attention to problems that are staring the world in the face at this very moment, and with this killer, crusty and catchy LP, they do just that in a manner that all punks can understand and still thrash to without fear of being preached to. Excellent.

Against Me!
Reinventing Axl Rose (Brown Splatter Vinyl) LP

Any criticism of AM!'s recent signing to Sire can easily be wiped clean by picking up a copy of this monsterously important LP. These guys literally did re-invigorate the aesthetic of the anarcho-punk scene with their powerful messages about life, love, and anti-capitalism. Anthems of radicalism belted out by the crusty cries of Tom Gabel, backed by the melodic folk-rock influenced guitar chords and the energetic, precise drumming of Warren.

GREATGREATGREATGETIT.

Day The Country Died LP

Ah, the Subhumans. To be breif: buy this LP, you won't regret the gatefold-greatness. LP includes bonus tracks: Dying Country and I Don't Wanna Die, both great additions. This is a major piece of the late 70's/early 80's UK Anarcho-punk pie...Yummy.

Crass
Feeding Of The 5,000 (Reissue) LP

Alright, let's be honest. This is Crass at their earliest, and the mock-militant vibe is felt throughout the entire LP, which some people find annoying. (I personally think they change up their grooves enough to keep me interested and bouncing my head). Lyrics of course are great, and you can never go wrong with a free fold-out poster. Aesthetic is great, from artwork to the lyrics, to the message left in the waxing...shhh...

A great Crass album - not my favorite, and maybe not the best starter album, but very well done.

Code 13 -A Part Of America Died Today 7

Code 13
A Part Of America Died Today 7"

This 7" is by far the best work in the arsenal of hardcore/crust-punkers Code 13. The quality of the recording is excellent, which leaves the bass chunky and twangy, and the guitars crisp (not muddy). Lyrical content deals with everything from politics to keeping old school skating alive despite current corporate takeover. A great starter album for kids interested in hardcore/crust punk.

Avskum
Punkista! CD

Great Swedish D-beat album. They change the pace a little bit with "I Hate Your Fucking War Song", but most of the album are straight forward d-beat punk rock. Songs like "State Terrorism" and "The Children of War" especially caught my attention. You like discharge? You like Avskum. Enough said.

Born/Dead
Our Darkest Fears Now Haunt Us CD

An onslaught of amazing hardcore punk rock - this album tears straight through your skull non-stop from start to finish. Amazing lyrics and very cool artwork inside the CD booklet. Sounds very similar to The Rotten Agenda era of Aus-Rotten...Very loud, fast, and distorted. Vocal styling is yelling, but the lyrics are very clear and audible, which is a big reason why Aus-Rotten caught the attention of so many people. Dual vocalists sound awesome together. It's a great feeling to know that there are bands out there like Born/Dead, dealing with more current issues than what has happened in the past. If you are into politically-charged hardcore punk - this is a must have. I'm giving it a five because the album lacks nothing - not one song is worth being skipped over. It's excellent.

Destroy
Discography CD

Crusties rejoice! The entire Destroy discography for the price of one album...this is a must-have for any fan of crust, hardcore punk and even death metal. If Napalm Death would have continued on with their punk upbringings, this is probably what they'd be pumping out to this day. Booklet contains the lyrics for every song, which are phenomenal. GET THIS!!!

Assuck
Anticapital/Blindspot + 3 CD

A killer fucking album if you're into the low, growling vocal style grindcore. Reminds me an awful lot of early Napalm Death (especially songs like "Feasts of War")- blazing drums, deep and heavy guitars and some very metal riffs. From a lyrical standpoint, the album is probably more for crusties and punks than metalheads - dealing with issues like war, worker exploitation, religious control over the state, and the suppression of knowledge by those in power....if you like it loud, fast, and meaningful - pick this album up for sure.
