Irreversible? CD

One of the better ska-punk cds by one of the better ska-punk bands, France's Skapsom are a great band that no one knows about. Do yourself a favor and pick up this CD if you like Misspent Youth, Union Jack, or any of the American crack-rock bands like LOC, Choking V, Morning G, InDK, No-Cash, etc.

Dropkick Murphys
Gang's All Here CD

As is every release from Dropkick Murphys, this is a solid cd which shines on tracks like "The Fighting 69th" and "Pipebomb on Lansdowne", where their Clash influence really shines through.

Mad Conductor
Mechanical Claw CD

Why you should buy this album, by Evan Avery

First off, don't listen to Theo. He didn't like this CD, and that's fine, he's entitled to his opinion, but he's looking at it from the wrong perspective. He was looking for another Crack Rock Steady styled sound, which this is definetly not. However, this is not "mindless". This is different. They take equal parts reggae, hip hop, and rock to make a new sound, seeing this band live was proof enough of this. That said...

After a weird dial up intro, the cd breaks into its first real song featuring a heliumed-up MC Devlin (aka Big C, lead singer of No-Cash)over some ambient bass and an odd piano solo, but the song really kicks in about a minute and a half into it when record scratch switches the song into its second half, some straight up reggae with some sick rapping over it.

The third track, Tomb Digging Shovels, is my favorite. It features a much slower reggae beat than the previous track, and a very catch chorus. This song has a great groove with an interesting tribal breakdown in the middle.

Trouble in the Sewers features MC Devlin rapping, as well as TJ Backwards, a member of Mad Conductor's live band. This song's production is definetly reggae-influenced again, but it sounds like it's being played through a calliope, giving it a weird circus side show vibe.

The penultimate track Marisafa Lupina would be the closest thing Mad Conductor would have to a wide-ranged audience pleaser... if the lyrics weren't about eating bloody, shit covered fetuses in an omelette and fucking Lois Lane in the Daily Planet broom closet followed by a celebratory vacation to Mexico with Bill Cosby... the lyrics in this song are ridiculous, but they work, and the piano-looped southern rock production is fun to bump.

Finally, Nairobi sounds like some garage produced Long Beach gangster rap circa 1992, with an extremely catchy Cajun influenced choruses and hooks and aquatically apocolyptic lyrics... a fun song, although a mellow way to end the album.

All in all, this is an amazing album, if you have an open enough mind to receive it. Definetly trippy hip hop reggae with a punk behind the pen; Couple this with hilarious samples from cartoons and kids movies throughout, and you have yourself an original sound unlike any other. Check out this band's website, and if you ever have the chance, see them live! 5 stars.

Team Spider/No-Cash
Split CD

A great cd! All fans of No-Ca$h should pick this up now for the alternate version of "Skate or Die" as well as the awesome track "Kill Your Parents"

Team Spider is just as delightfully awful as always, especially during their cover of Choking Victim's version of Take On Me, "Corporate Trash".

A no brainer purchase for all fans of Crack Rock Steady.

Kill Whitey CD

This is an AWESOME cd... fits in well with the Crack Rock Steady collection you all should be amassing. It couples the melodic riffs of Morning Glory (the band spawned after InDK's breakup) with the sheer fun of Choking Victim (the band thats breakup spawned InDK.)

All the tracks on the album are awesome, but the betters ones include the two ska numbers, East Coast Rising and Moonwalk Mafia, as well as the rockabilly sounding Off the Scope and the slightly-celtic sounding Rallying Point. The more polished version of Rent For Sale (originally found on Give 'Em the Boot Volume 1) is a great track as well.

A modern classic.

If you have any love at all fer anything punk, ska, or metal related, just do yourself a favor and buy this album.

This album has influenced every ska punk band that's followed, and of course Choking V directly spawned Leftover Crack, as well as InDK, which of course brought upon Morning Glory and American Distress...

Shit, just buy it.
