Norma Jean
O' God, The Aftermath CD

One word: Brilliance.

How do you follow up one of the best, most loved modern hardcore albums? Ditch the old formula, get a member of Botch to produce you and rock your socks off! With 'O God, The Aftermath', 'NJ' have achieved this feat, they've even coped with losing their lead vocalist, which is something many bands never recover from.

New frontman Cory manages to fill Josh Scogins shoes admirably, taking 'NJ' in his own new direction and trying his hand at more than just a scream. The guitar work is absolutely brilliant, some great riffs in here guys. Forget about the breakdowns, this is the new noise.

The artwork is awesome, lovely little CD booklet too and even the names of the songs are great.

Buy it. you'll like it.

Every Time I Die
Burial Plot Bidding War (Reissue) CD

This Ep is nice to check out if your a fan of 'Every Time I Die''s more recent releases, its cool to be able to take a look back at the band as they were starting out and see how they have progressed from here.

Its by no means a bad release, keiths lyrical genius can be seen shining as early as this EP, it's just that the musical progression from this to 'Hot Damn' is a huge one.

Still worth getting if your a collecter or fan of 'ETID' and have their 2 albums already or you just like good raw hardcore/metalcore, whaever you wanna call it these days.

Nice artwork too!

Chariot
Everything Is Alive Everything Is Breathing Nothing Is Dead And Nothing... CD

Im a big 'Norma Jean' fan, so when I heard about their vocalist leaving to join 'The Chariot' it was a foregone conclusion that I'd get their album.

And glad I am of that. 'EIAEIBNIDANIB' is a very good album, its hardcore the way it should be, breakdowns and spastic riffs as usual. It also has some really nice touches such as the banjo interlude on one song and the sequencer triggered string section, violins and church choir vocals on 'And then, came then'.

If you like 'proper' hardcore, 'Norma Jean', christian rock or just want to listen to a raw album that throws some new stuff into the classic hardcore mix, then check this album out.

Gratitude
Gratitude CD

I found out about 'Far' after they had split up, hearing 'Water & Solutions' was a defining musical moment of my life. Jonah's voice has always been beautiful, he has a way of being both dyanmic and vulnerable.

So I was really happy to find out about his new band 'Gratitude', on getting the cd I listened to it a few times and instantly loved it. Its just classic, melodic pop-rock! It hasnt been out of my cd player for a couple of weeks.

Lots of catchy sing along choruses and beautiful instrumentation, Jonahs voice sounds amazing on this record too. Something for everyone on this record, from the slow pop of 'The Greatest Wonder' to the get up and dance rock of 'This Is The part'. If you like stuff like Jets To Brazil, Jimmy eat World, The Promise Ring etc etc or if you liked far then check this out.

Actually, just buy it anyway, you wont regret it. With all the posing of bands like TBS and the rest of the crowd, you wont find anything as honest and heartfelt as 'Gratitude'.
