Minus The Bear
Highly Refined Pirates CD

Warning...this is not an emo. this is just high-quality indie pop-rock like it's never been played before, featuring Dave from Botch playing some of the most inventive and creative guitar parts that rock music has seen. The sound of Minus The Bear is the soundtrack to falling in love on a beach with plenty of wine to go around. Relaxing, calm, and fresh are the words that would best describe this album, so be sure to pick this up as well as any other MTB disc. you won't be disappointed. -Ben

Very fucking awesome technical death metal. The drumming of John Longstreth stands out the most but the other instruments are definitely not to be looked past. Very fast, very technical, very good death vocals. Not for fans of just melodic death metal. Although, this can get a bit monotonous at times, it's still alright to break out every now and then. -Ben

Very fucking awesome technical death metal. The drumming of John Longstreth stands out the most but the other instruments are definitely not to be looked past. Very fast, very technical, very good death vocals. Not for fans of just melodic death metal. Definitely a step up from their first release which appears too monotonous at times. Pick this up along with the new disc "Echoes of Decimation" -Ben

if you like ultra-fast grind with amazing death vocals, this early work from Cattle Decapitation is for you. While it is very good grind, I prefer their more current death metal sound. Good to see live as well. Fucking cool guys. -Ben

Acacia Strain
3750 CD

Sludgy breakdowns abound! so if breakdowns aren't your thing, then steer clear of this heavy piece of chunk. Not as good as the previous effort cuz a lot of tech has been sacrficed for all-to-popular breakdowns but if I ha to have one MOSH YOUR BALLS OFF CD then i'd definitely choose this one for it's really enjoyable and the lyrics are quite odd and interesting. Be sure to see them live too, very energetic and fun. For fans of Premonitions Of War. -Ben

And Life Is Very Long CD

good amount of tech. good amount of sludge and mosh. too bad the new cd decided to favor more to the mosh side of things but it's still enjoyable. make sure to pick this up if you like From A Second Story Window or Ion Dissonance. You won't be dissappointed. -Ben

Woman You Saw Is The Great City That Rules Over The Kings Of The Earth CD

If you're into tech-metal along the lines of Ion Dissonance, Into The Moat, From A Second Story Window and the like, then there is no reason you wouldn't like this. Epic-length, tech masterpieces with beautiful melodic passages thrown in from time to time. The quality leaves a bit to be desired at times, but I'll get over it for the sheer fact that they make amazing music. Make sure to see them live as well for it is quite a treat. Look for a new release on Lovelost from them in the not-too-distant future. I expect big things from these guys.

Into The Moat
Means By Which The End Is Justified CD

Into The Moat is one of the best bands out there today. Creating music that is actually complex and challenging rather than boring mosh part after mosh part. So if you enjoy tech-metal fused with bits of jazz and high, scathing vocals, you'll love this. Be sure to also check out Ion Dissonance, PsyOpus, and From A Second Story Window. Also, be sure to pick up their new full-length on Metal Blade Records, "The Design" for you get even more tech goodness from these awesome dudes. -Ben
