Dischord 1981: Year In 7in. CD

HARDCORE! This is a very awesome Cd. The first 6 7inches put out by dischord.

Teen Idles- Ian Mckaye plays bass on this one. Music is Ok and fast. Vocals seem pretty bad at first but they grow on you. Last sone sucks majorly though. 3/5

S.O.A.- Henry Rollins Greatest vocal achievment in my humble opinion. He sounds so extremly intense. If SOA stayed together and developed theyre song writing skills a bit and recorded with this era Henry Rollins it would have destroyed Damaged just with Rollins's Devastating vocal attack... Songs about fighting, gang wars, and police brutality.5/5

Minor threat- Classic record by minor threat. If you dont own "Complete Discography" yet, get off the computer and run barefoot to the nearest FYE or Sam Goody... If they dont have it(and dont forget to check the Heavy Metal section) tear the place apart, strip and run naked untill the cops take you away... when you get out of jail order the album from interpunk and die happy.5/5

Government issue- Wow this starts off with an awesome drum beat. GI tend to be funnier and less serious than the other bands on this album. the song 'Rock and roll bulshit' has a hilarious intro. 5/5

Minor threat- (Read other Minor threat piece)

Youth Brigade- eh theyre ok.. a bit run of the mill.. i useually restart the cd after just a couple youth brigade songs.

Ovrall this is a great DC Hardcore Comp. also reccomended is "Minor Threat- Complete Dicography", "Government Issue- Complete History Vol. 1", "black Flag- Damaged".

Steven Blush
American Hardcore Book

Awesome Book with lots of information and pictures. Most of is it told by band members and people that were involved in the early 80's hardcore scene (Ian McKaye, Bill Stevensen, Jello Biafra, just to name a few). This is Stictly about the American Hardcore scene as the title does suggest, tells you very little about the bands that influenced it (though it does touch on a few, mainly Sham 69). Overall this is a very interesting and informative book. Gives you kind of a perspective of how most of todays music is watered down to nearly nothing but recycled radio trash with no feeling being pounded into your head by MTV. The reason I took away a star was because the author got on my nerves at times. But I do suggest you buy this book if you have some interest in real punk rock. there are also entire chapters dedicated to: Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys(SF), Minor threat(DC), Black Flag, and the Boston Scene(SSD).

Let's Go CD

Great CD. Im not really a fan of newer music(90's) I am a big fan of pennywise and Bad Religion. I mostly like early 80's hardcore. But Im glad I got this CD. Its really great. catchy punk revival. the 2 singers are cool too. they sound different and together soundds really good. One of the only newer cds that still has that punk edge... still havent heard anything like that from the 2000's.

Dead Kennedys
In God We Trust DVD

In my opinion this is the best Dead Kennedys DVD. Its really great and shows the recording of unheard versions of all the songs from the "in god we trust" ep. Its all through a video camera right in the studio! the sound is perfect to... then you get live versions of every song.. some arent so great, but most of them are good.

Milo Goes To College LP

WOW!... If you dont own this you are really missing out. Not only will fans of hardcore apreciate this fans of poppunk and just punk in general should really love this record. This is the descendents mos hardcore LP mixing some poppunk elements( though i dont consider it poppunk) this is sraight up hardcore. The first time i heard this, Ill admit, I hated it. I was just getting into punk and was listening to pennywise, Green Day and Bad Religion(Post Hardcore '88-90,). After a day or so i listened to it again and it quickly became one of my favorites. I still listen to it a lot. It's a true punk classic.

Nice, Nice, Totally Bad Ass! CD

I really like this it's cd Fast, Heavy, Catchy, and Loud! The only bad thing is that it is short ( 10 songs in about 25 min) It's also quite original. You don't here stuff this good from new punk/ hardcore bands much today. IT'S ONLY 7 BUCKS!! BUY IT!
