Im not sure if i can really judge this cd fairly. Although i had heard them on numerous occasions, this was the first album of thier's that i puchased. This cd, by it self, is excellet. The music truely takes "math" metal a step further by having a complicated vocal section (courtesy of mike patton of Mr.Bungle) as well as oddly timed guitar, bass, and drums.
But as i said before, i can't compare this to any of thier other efforts so i can't really tell you if this cd amounts to crap or not. I loved it but thats just me.
Fugazi are one of the most original and daring bands of thier generation. Although this cd is great it doesn't show just how versatile the band can be. 13 songs, is among my favorite fugazi cds, but if you want to hear something extremely well crafted listen to the argument.
I am a huge at the drive in fan, and i was greatly looking forward to listening to de-loused in the comatorium. But i decided that i should probably listen to some of Mars Volta's work before ordering the cd. so i manage to listen to their first cd TREMULANT. I was dissapointed, nearly all of the songs i listen to were electronic, not that electronic music is bad, but i really wanted to hear OMar expand as a guitarist. But then i heard the song INERTIATIC ESP off of the new album, I WAS AMAZED. I decided that i had to buy De_Loused, even thought i didn't know if i was going to like it or not. Needless to say, this cd is a masterpiece. This is art. All the insturments (including cedric's vocals) blended so beutifully that i had to listen to it more. This cd totally opened the musical portion of my brain much much wider.
B E W A R E-------This is not at the drive in. Mrs Volta is completely different. So please dont compare the 2 bands in terms of quality.
