Tilt is one of those bands that are really attractive at first. They have well written songs, mostly cool social commentary, and of course the chick vocals. This CD is good as far as the music but it does leave some areas lacking. Like I said the social commentary is cool but it seems a little arbitrary.. It's like they write some of this stuff because they think they're supposed to like it's just a punk rock gimmick or something. They seem to come close to whining about society without knowing too much about it at large. I've noticed this about a lot of "Berkley-types". They do the whole leftist thing and don't ask why. Don't take this as a personal indictment of the band.. they may be the complete opposite. Well I've veered off course.. lemme finish. Good melodies, original song writing as far as the music goes, a very stand alone band. Cinder doesn't sing with those Kim Shattuck-esque vox that most punk chicks feel obligated to do.. so they stand out. I recommend it if the social venting stuff is your thing.. Rock and Roll!

Tilt's most recent full length offering, is somewhere inbetween 'Til It Kills' and 'Collect 'Em All'. Straight ahead punk rock with insightful lyrics and the best female vocals in in the business by the amazing Cinder Block. I'm kinda torn here cuz this is a good album, better than 'Collect 'Em All', but nothing they have done, in my opinion, has been close to the greatness of their Fat Wreck Chords debut 'Til It Kills'. I'm gonna give three stars but it's really close to a four.
