Cave In

Tides Of Tomorrow

Hydra Head 66

Released on October 15, 2002

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Although this impromptu release isn't the much anticipated major label full-length follow-up to Cave In's 2000 landmark, Jupiter, it is yet another step closer to enlightenment through the eyes and ears of the four Bostonian gentlemen collectively known as Cave In. Oh, and it's damn good too. Basically, what we have here is a relaxed Cave In. A Cave In who were able to approach this release without the stress that perhaps comes with recording a record for a huge-ass corporation. The final product is astounding, really. The boys effortlessly squeezed out five dynamic new gems and one new cover song. Driving expansive and serene. And of course, this release is complete with the usual fantastic packaging from Hydra Head.

Man I was just totally blown away by this cd. Every song on this cd is incredible and well worked out. I would have to say "Tides Of Tommorow" is my favorite song on the cd followed closely by "Come Into Your Own." It is hard to decide which I like the most; this cd, Jupiter, Or Antenna. Buy this one and you will not stop listening to it for months like me!

A wonderful little recording to tide you over until the upcoming new full length. These songs have a little less hardcore influence in them, but they still have that driving force that Cave In is known for. The hooks are even more hooking, the choruses just as soaring, and the recording quality top notch as always.

The only song I could do without is "Tides Of Tomorrow"...I just can't seem to get into it as much, it's just way too repetitive towards the end, and hasn't grown on me yet as the other songs have. It's for this reason that I've given the EP a 4. The other tracks are all extremely solid, especially "The Callus" and the beautiful closing number, "Everest". Plus, you're treated to some pretty neat live footage and demo versions of other Cave In tracks as a PC bonus, so if you're a Cave In fan, or just a fan of challenging but rewarding music, I think there's no reason why you shouldn't pick this one up.

Cave In finally appeases my desire for new music. Ever since their beyond stellar "Jupiter" I have been waiting for this gem of a CD. Very talented musicians who have put out another awesome CD and the artwork of the CD is pretty killer. Its also an enhanced cd with the video for Jupiter and some other live footage and bonus stuff. Nice.

I'm reviewing this 4 days before it's released...I own. I've had this d/led for a while though. Amazing stuff from Cave-In. I almost like it more than Jupiter. Every song just has the greatest atmosphere to it. Good good music from an always improving band. Possibly EP of the year.
