This was ok. The unrealeased song from Minor Threat was good. I can't remember too much of this...it's really long, and some of the bands really suck. But monstly the ones I never had heard of before. "Circles" from Dag Nasty is good, but I don't remember if that song is even on here...woops. "Fight" from Scream is good, but the second half ("American Justice") is boring. The best songs/bands are the ones you're all probably familiar with: Void, The Teen Idles, SOA, Government Issue, Fugazi, Dag Nasty, The Faith, Minor Threat, Scream, etc. etc. Buy it if you want it. Have fun. :) This is Amanda not Donna.

CD 1 and 3 is amazing, but CD 2 has just a few good songs and many disappointing ones, but then again I listen to mainly hardcore punk, so cd 2 wasnt bound to capture my attention

The first two cds compiled 50 different fantastic Dischord bands; the third was unreleased and rare mat'l, including an unreleased Minor Threat song, with lyrics. The book that comes with it details every band who put out an album on Dischord and is wonderful. Simply put, this set is fantastic.

in a word: comprehensive. It's fun to see how the sound of DC evolves, considering these songs are in chronological order. It starts off with some fierce hardcore and evolves into angular post-punk. The booklet has information about every band in here, as well as a lot of photos. The third disc has some great rare songs, as well. It's a great documentation of a label thats released some of the best music I've ever heard.

Fucking amazing overview of Dischord. Most people thing dischord peaked with harDCore, but the truth is that it peaked more around the revolution summer(summer of 85), where Gray matter, rites of spring, beefeaterm snakes, dag nasty, embrace and soulside are all great. Also, standouts from the 90's are nation of ulysses, fidelity jones, jawbox, lungfish, circus lupus, severin, slang 6, hoover, make-up and q and not u. The bonus disc is sweet too.

This retrospective is like no other. All the bands on here existed with purpose and made some of the best hardcore of the last 20 years. The rarities disc is great. You'll find yourself seeking out more music from some of the bands you hadn't even heard of before listening to this excellent compilation.

I'm sort of split on this comp, some of its really cool, but they also have a bunch of bad tracks. If you like dc hardcore then get this, its heaven.

Absolutely amazing. I bought my first Minor Threat record when i was 13 years. This is a great introduction for anybody who desires to own raw/heartfelt punk. Still sounds as good today as it did 20 years ago. A great booklet also.Takes me back to my childhood days of skating in the sun, throwing eggs at passing cars etc etc..........

I really like this box set. It has a great intro by Rollins in the book and 1 whole cd of rare and live songs. It has a really good live track of "Burning" if you like Fugazi. It's also reasonably priced which is awesome. Everyone loves at least one Dischord band, so it's a good investment.
