City Of Caterpillar

City Of Caterpillar

Level Plane 36

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Anyone that saw City of Caterpillar play this summer knows that this is one great band. Excellent and strong drumming combined with creative song writing and crazed modern sounding singing all comes together to really make a fantastic listening experience. Powerful, arty, and crazed all rolled into one cocoon. Unfortunately there was only a limited press of the cd made, so don’t be surprised if this record is a bit hard to find or sells out quickly.

This is absolutely epic. That's the only way to describe it. Think Pg.99 meets Mogwai, with a bit more overall crunch than, say, "Document #7," and you've got this album. This one is already a classic.

This album is really phenomenal. Bands like A Day in Black and White, Sika Redem, and Van Johnson have followed the example that this band put forth. Members went on to form Malady, but I wish that they would have kept on making music under this moniker. City takes there time building tracks, adding melody and dissonance, resulting in epic songs. If your record collection contains records by DoMakeSayThink, Explosions in the Sky, Pelican, Hot Cross, and Circle Takes the Square, this record will fit in nicely.

Well, this band recently broke up, which really sucks. Just thought I'd say that first.

As for the cd: The music on this album is just wow. I love it; I can't get enough of it. The kinda of yelly half screamy vocals work really well, and the songs are epic, some almost ten minutes long. This is post-hardcore at it's finest - from nice soft, melodic instrumental riffs to chaotic screamo, City of Caterpillar makes some very nice noise.

Standout tracks are "And You're Wondering How a Top Floor Could Replace Heaven," "A Heart Filled Reaction to Dissatisfaction," and "Maybe They'll Gnaw Right Through."

Wow!!! I am a tough critic, but this album is great. It takes a few listens to get accomidated with the style, but after that it is just amazing. Great musicianship. Awesome melodies. And killer iratic, spasmic vocals. Excellent CD. I would recommend this CD to anyone looking to break out of the monotony of everyday hardcore/screamo/emocore/or whatever you want to call it. Definitely pick this one up.

alright i waited a month to review this. this band is what emo/emocore should be. its just wonderfull its emotional and just done well its like the radiohead of emo. all i can say is i listen to this almsot none stop his vocals always seem like hes about to just breakdown and the sounds they use are just fantastic. i honestly see no reason at all why you should not get this.

virginia style 'hardcore' (ala pg.99, darkest hour, etc) mixed with canadian style 'slowcore' (ala godspeed! you black emporer, a silver mt zion, etc). they like to build up gorgeous instrumental soundscapes and then swing a guitar into your face. if you like stuff on level-plane then buy this. if you like the first planes mistaken for stars record then buy this. if you think 'city of caterpillar' is a cool name, buy this.

This CD is amazing, especially considering the fact that it's a debut album. City Of Caterpillar tear through riffs one minute and then go off into a spastic instrumental epic the next. Definetly for fans of the Blood Brothers and These Arms Are Snakes.

What an awesome band! More people need to love this band because they do cathartic, beautiful post-hardcore like no other. Some people will tell you that Drive Like Jehu or Yaphet Kotto are at the top of the crop of melodic post-hardcore song-writers...but I think it gets no better than City of Caterpillar. Also check out Demo and Live Recordings.
