New Bomb Turks

Night Before The Day The Earth Stood Still

Gearhead 36

Released on September 17, 2002

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The latest from long-running Columbus, Ohio rock'n'roll juggernauts the NEW BOMB TURKS. Thirteen blazing tracks of raw-fired and burning rockage that expertly blend the blistering punk of their earliest days with the swaggering Stones-like rip-up of their more recent adventures. Will tour the US in total support.

Not the best NBT album, i do prefer their crypt era album....but this one is defenitely worth the money....I'll say better than «at ropes end», not as good as « scared straight» but far from «destroy-oh boy»! Still a good record better than most of crappy today's band....

When I first heard this, I was a tad disappointed. It's not as fast or hard as their other stuff. But it grew on me, and I found it was faster and harder than I originally thought. The actual disk said it was a demo or something, and that struck me a little odd. Did anybody else's say that?

Buy this CD before you waste your money on any of the "garage" crap you see on MTV.

The Hives were inspired enough by the New Bomb Turks, that they invited the Turks to the MTV Video Music awards. Only the drummer attended.

5 outta 5 isn't good enough to describe this CD, so multiply the 5 rating by the number of songs on this CD and you'll see what I really think of this record.

It's a shame a band like the New Bomb Turks is not receiving any recognition for their true rock 'n roll, garage sound while bands continue to jump on the bandwagon straight out of Australia (the Vines). The New Bomb Turks rip through 34 minutes of classic NBT style on "The Night Before the Day the Earth Stood Still". No real ground breaking songs compaired to previous works... (Killer's Kiss, Spanish Fly by Nights/The Roof, Cultural Elite Sign-Up Sheet, Drop What You're Doin', Wrest Your Hands, Quarter to Four)...but the album still contains some pretty awesome shit! The opening title track, "The Night Before...", "Leaving Town", "Like Ghosts" and "Ditch" stand out among other tracks on the album. As with most New Bomb Turk albums, it takes a few listenings for the songs to truely separate themselves from the many rock 'n roll driving NBT songs. This album will become a 5 in time. If you don't get this CD, at least get "Scared Straight" or better yet, "Nightmere Scenario"!
