Jokey mock-emo from the mid '90s. The way everyone talked about this album, I expected it to be great, but it really just comes off as stupid and insincere. If you're a legitimate fan of emocore, I would suggest just downloading the first track. Beyond that, the album is boring, and the humorous lyrics just end up being irritating.

When I read some of the reviews for this CD, I thought it would be kind of a rip off purchasing it but I thought I'd give them a shot anyways. I spent some time reading the lyrics to these songs before actually listening to the CD and I thought "this is really depressing o_o." After playing it, I came to the conclusion's still really depressing :P Some of the songs that stand out are "This Isn't the Tenka-Ichi-Budakai," "Polar Bear Summer," "Caught in a Floor With the Captain of the Cheerleading Squad" and "To a Husband at War." The singer has a great, genuine scream and the guitar riffs are awesome. They sound NOTHING like Sunny Day Real Estate or Saetia but they're still ace and you should def. buy it if you have $10 laying around or something. The cover is really cool, too (:

This is a pretty good collection of songs from I Hate Myself, but they sound nothing like Saetia in the vocals or their music like so many people have said, and Saetia is way heavier and much more aggresive than these guys. I don't want to sound like I'm knocking I Hate Myself, but I was expecting something a little more intense. As for the Sunny Day comparisons, I can see a little resemblance, but if you're expecting Saetia or Orchid I would look elswhere.

Alright this review might be kind of weird, but here it goes. I'm a pretty big punk fan, been into 88 Fingers Louie for sometime and the song "I hate myself" off 'Behind Bars' has been a anthem of mine for a couple years. Well a few weeks ago add lots of alcohol random browsing for new music on this site and a comparison to Sunny Day Real Estate and I immediately added this to my cart. Anyhow I'm mostly pleased. This album gets a solid three. Definitely no Sunny Day Real Estate (and I did give this album quite a few binge plays too ha) but it is pretty good anyhow.

If you got ten bucks to spend and you are pretty bummed, I'd pick it up.

NOT GOOD!!! Kinda has its moments, I don't know why people compare this to Saetia or Sunny Day...The lyrics sound like children's poetry from the 9th grade.

The screaming is ok, but i just can't understand stopping each song and dabbing the guitar strings all quiet like...what is that!!!! Then SCREAMING!!!!!

And I just have to say #6 is by far the worst song I have ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This CD took me a few listens before I was able to get the hang of it. I had heard a couple of songs before purchasing the album and was really impressed by their screaming and overall playing ability. But when I received the album I didn't know what to think of it. The songs i heard were basically the only songs I liked and the others didn't seem to fit as well with them. So I put the CD on the shelf, then a couple of months later I listened to it again and was able to hear how good the album was. This CD is definently worth checking out.

Hot to death boys and girls hot to death, it is so hot R Kelley would have to piss on it to cool it off, this album is so hot it comes with a fire extinguisher, why this album is so hot the moment I got it out the package my smoke alarm went off. Too damn hot! Man when I touched it, ohhh it hurt man, then I opened it and hot steam came out of it, damn son that sit is hot ma fucka.

As I was stating this albume has many facets that could be deemed as so... credible no incredible that I can't express it in my meager words, but damn son, hot shit o' herre that is fo' sho' damn!

If you like Saetia you should enjoy this. It's super depressing and i love it. Its not a disc i'd regularly listen to in the car but it's a good one none-the-less.

this is a really good cd. i hate myself is like old sunny day real estate with some high pithed screams. they are the begining of emo in the mid 90s, before every pop punk band started calling themselves emo. i would say for fans of sunny day real estate and saetia.
