Joe Gittleman is one of the best pop writers out there and Avoid One Thing is proof. Awesome pop rock/punk songs.

Avoid One Thing’s first record. Pretty good. I bought it because I wanted to hear the original “Lean on Sheena” of which the Bouncing Souls did a cover on their record “The Gold Record” and I really like both versions, even though there are definitely differences in both, such as electronic drums in this version. Plus, dude theres a babe in this band! What a deal! She sings some too. “Take a Good Look” is acoustic with clean guitar over it. When you first hear it, you will go…wait is this Jack Johnson?

Pretty good, mid-tempo punk record. Catchy lines sometimes with harmony on top. “Next Stop Batteries” (track 9) starts acoustic and builds to get big and goes back down. Yes, everyone writes a song called “Saturday” but this one (track 11) is pretty damn good. Lyrics are down to earth and fairly impressive.

Impressive, good production by bassist/songwriter/lead vocalist Joe Gittleman.

Comes with lyrics and clocks in at 31:50. Not bad, not bad at all.

This Cd is amazingingly simple, and amazingly great. All the songs on it are catchy and rock. Joe G's voice and some crafty guitar work make this CD a must buy. It is very pop-punk but avoids the polished feel of most of the other bands in the genre. There is something rough about this Cd. "Do any of you lovely ladies feel like drinkin a little closer to the ocean?"

This CD was pretty good. I saw them live, opening for Alkaline Trio, and I really liked them live. That's how I happened to buy one of their CD's. This CD is really not one of the more energetic records Ive bought, but I will say that I like it a lot and that it's a good album if you like that king of thing.

This cd is very good! If you like the bosstone more rock songs than you'll enjoy this album. also if you like bands like The Lawrence Arms, Jawbreaker, maybe even Hot Water Music you'll like this band. Best songs are 1,3,5,6,9,11. Good record, I would buy it, wait I did.

Ok, I became interested in Avoid One Thing because Joe Gittleman is their frontman and I'm a huge Bosstones fan. But this really is a great punk cd from a great punk band. Highly recommended.

Bosstones bass player goes solo on this release and damn me if it ain't a revelation! This DOES sound kinda like the Bosstones in terms of song structures but there's not even a whiff of ska, thank Christ!

Great melodies, strong choruses, and overall catchy songs. Perfect punk rock. A-1
