the promise ring were one of the first emo bands i fell in love with, and this cd doesn't live up to what they could be. although some of the song writing is amazing, this cd just isn't... the promise ring i once knew. the opening track almost sounds like a different band. "stop playing guitar" is the best track on this release. the rest give off that coldplay/beatles/radiohead type vibe. when i think promise ring, i'll always think 30 degrees everywhere and very emergency, but this cd is ok.

Pretty disappointing....don't expect any upbeat poppy numbers that the PROMISE RING are so good at,but do expect 12 average slow droning tracks...this is unlike anything they have released on thier last 3 albums or EPs.Musically pretty bland,no real effort with the vocals, and no energy they previously had,i hope it will grow on me more, but already i know it's their weakest recording to date.
