Poison The Well

Tear From The Red

Trustkill 37

Released on February 19, 2002

Poison the Well's delicate interludes nestled deep inside the belly of bludgeoning slabs of devastatingly brutal metallic fury and insightful lyrical prose delivered through harsh bellowing balanced by melodious singing has set the standard for contemporary Metalcore bands the world over. Not since the heyday of genre standard bearers Snapcase and more recently, New Found Glory, has a band bubbled forth from the underground with the ability to appeal to fans of emotive indie rock, hardcore pit monsters, diehard metal heads, and the more artistically minded set alike.

Well, any album featuring Botchla is enough for me. The singles on this album are stellar, why the album tracks are only mediocre. Overall I'd say this album is worth checking out though.

If you enjoy Poison the Well, then you will enjoy this cd. This is the middle ground between the heavier "Opposite of december" and the more melodic "You Come Before You". It is an amazing album and the booklet is very cool.

Total bummer...maybe I'm just over this scream/sing/screamo bullshit that's outrageously popular these days, but even in comparision to Opposite of December and You Come Before You this is total shit. The music just sounds lazy and not as intense as their other stuff, and the lead vocalist sings WAY TOO MUCH, which wouldn't bother me if he had the vocal talent to sing as much as he does. This CD reminds me of FATA's material...and that's not a good thing. If you want to get into Poison the Well, just save yourself the trouble and buy Opposite of December, because it's all downhill after that. Better yet, stop being a pussy and listen to real metal or hardcore.

this may not be their best album, but it's clearly a bridge between two styles.. it's the in-between-product of "The Opposite Of December" and "You Come Before You".. well.. if you're a fan you should have it.. if not.. buy the other two albums.

This is definatly Poison the Well's worst album. It still deserves 5 stars though. It just doesnt have the brilliance that the first two albums had. And there is a fucking pussy ass slow song on it. WTF

Good... very good, combining music genres nicely with a few twists and turns along the way. For a flawless hardcore record though copy and paste the following links into your browser. You will NOT regret it!

definately one of the best cds i have heard in hardcore/emo in a while. i read a lot of reviews where people compared this to "opposite of december" and said it wasn't as good, but man they are both great and both so different. where as "OOD" had more screaming this one has a lot of singing but still a great amount of screaming and it works perfectly. since the first song on 'opposite' started with the drums and jumped right into a crazy great song dont expect the same from this. it starts off with simple strumming of a guitar and soft melodic singing and then 30 seconds into it BOOM! you know ptw is rocking it. the songs stay in the normal ptw vein until you get to track 6 "horns and tails" which is completely acoustic and dashboard confessional fans (as myself) will love it. then 7, one of my favorite ptw songs "sticks and stones never made sense" and it just rocks. this cd is great for fans of hardcore and emo. please buy this and support a great band. standout songs include "botchla" "lazzaro" "rings from corona" "moments over exaggerate" "horns and tails" "sticks and stones..." and "pieces of you in me". the rest are good but those are my absolute favorites. (karsey street is dumb though) so as the sticker says if you like deftones/incubus/glassjaw and whatever else then buy this. and although i didnt see the incubus and and glassjaw influence came in you might when you get this cd and it is great. another high school had a bomb threat and we had to evacuate the school and this cd was left inside and i was really worried about it and had to leave it what does that tell you? this cd is great! buy it now! later. -Ben (email me if you can tell me where the "karsey street" sample came from cuz it sounds familiar but i can't quite remember)

A big let down. These guys seem to have lost it. They have become too metalish. I will never buy anything that says Poison the Well again..
