Saetia is one of my favorite bands. If your a fan of real emo, this album MUST be in your collection. Saetia was one of the first bands to make the emo sound popular again in the late 90's, and nearly re-defined the genre. This album contains everything they've released, as well as five live tracks, so you really can't go wrong. Everything is here: beautiful melodies, emotional vocals, meaningful lyrics, and relentless drive. This is, and I think will always be, in my top 5 favorite albums.

Extremely original and influential post hardcore band from 1997-1999 along with likeminded bands You and I, Neil Perry, Orchid, etc. were the inception of a whole new scene in underground music. It doesn't get much better than this collection, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for something smart and different than the typical emo or metalcore garbage. Saetia is not a screamo band, the screamo label does not make sense because they sound a million times different than the screamo bands of today. As for the music, some of the best songs would have to be The Sweetness And The Light, Corporeal, Ariadne's Thread, The Poet You Never Were, Some Natures Catch No Plagues, The Burden of Reflecting, Venus and Bacchus, and Becoming The Truth.

Such an awsome cd! I finally bought this after such a long wait. I love how each band member puts in thier input about the experiences they got from being in this band. Their music is awsome, and the lyrics are sweet. If you like Hot Cross check this band out. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Holy moly. Does this album even need another review? Does it even need to be introduced to someone? Cause it most defenitetly should be in their top 10 albums of all time. Everything about the band is just so original. I garuntee at least half the people who own this weren't into it when they first popped it in. The rough production, along with screaching vocals could cause headaches. The first time i heard venus and bacchus i got shivers all over, and for some reason i felt like vomiting. I know, sweet first reaction. But all it takes is one song to jump out and then all 17 tracks just flow together. Almost every song was at one time my favorite. I find it hard to describe their style. At times they turn that distortion up to eleven and just riff it with non stop screeches, and then they can have clean guitars with singing and shouting that is like the sweetness of the earth, calling me to a field of magnificent flowers and bright sunshine. That is real gay. Yeah, so, it has everything. Standout tracks: Closed Hands, One Dying Wish, Some Natures Catch No Plagues, Endymion, and the rest of the album. Along with a huge booklet filled with lyrics, words from the band, live songs, stuff, i am in saetia heaven.

It took me a long, long time to acclimatize myself to Saetia's vocals - I always knew the instrumentals were amazing, but the vocals were so harsh and dissonant that I really couldn't appreciate this cd for what it really was. Well, I urge all of those people who don't quite understand Saetia to just stick with it and continue listening to the songs. The melody will emerge, and you'll find yourself humming along to the songs in due time.

It seems that the general consensus is that Saetia is a pretty damn amazing band, and I'd have to agree. Their sound is like nothing else that was released in the late 1990's, and they broke up way before they could be truly appreciated. I envy anyone who had the opportunity to see Saetia in their hey-day; I can imagine they were absolutely mindblowing live.

The insert in this cd is also worth mentioning, since the effort and creativity it took to put it together is obvious. The individual accounts from the band members tell the sad story of a band that just plainly outgrew each other, and they seem to be very happy to put Saetia and everything associated with the band to rest. Although the politics of the band are most likely best left unheard, this album showcases some intense, raw talent that any hardcore fan will appreciate.

Thursday,Glassjaw,Vision of disorder, what do these bands have in common, besidies the fact they all are from the same area fo the us. I'll tell you what, they all were fans of saetia. Much like i am now. this band makes wanna play hardcore t he way it was meant to be played. don't get me wrong i love all these new screamo bands, but this bands blows them all away. go and pick up this album if you are a fan of the used,my chemical romance, from first to last or any of the bands i mention in the beginning.
