Holier Than Thou

Hating Of The Guts

Six Weeks 51

Released on October 30, 2001

$7.75
Buy

HOLIER THAN THOU? has caused quite an uproar in the hardcore scene after their excellent self titled 7"" released on Six Weeks early this year. Their fierce combination of lightning quick speed-core guitars, old school shouted vocal and skate-thrash style has gained instant praise and respect from hardcore fans and bands world wide. With the inevitable cry for more, Six Weeks has stepped up and released these crushing new songs, drenched in ollie grinds and rabid southern California hardcore! Skate rock is back and HOLIER THAN THOU? are at the helm, get used to it! CD version contains all 4 songs from the 7"" as a bonus!"

Beginning with "H.T.T.?", this album starts kicking ass right out of the gate, and doesn't let up on you until the final chord. I was expecting the style of hyper-fast thrashcore that is typical of Six Weeks, but was instead treated to a brain-frying blast of crossover thrash that evokes the best of 1980's D.R.I. and personal favorites of mine Rich Kids on LSD. While they make no attempt to disguise the R.K.L. influence, they still maintain a unique and punishing sound that is perfect for driving really fast, spending more time headbanging than looking at the road. I was fortunate enough to catch their last show ever at SoCal Fest in July, and they tore it up live.

Check this out if you're into Municipal Waste, the Accused, or any of the aforementioned bands. Also, if you like this, check out Annihilation Time, who shared a guitarist with H.T.T.? Both of their albums are different, but killer as well.

Commence thrashing...

This is the type of shit that got me into punk. If you are a guy who likes to wear eyeliner, hip huggin pants you bought at hot topic, or have bangs you probably won't dig this. But it would do you good to buy it, so you could finally hear what good music sounds like. This is a great CD. Anybody into oldskool 80's skatepunk check this shit out.

Holier Than Thou? plays some amazing crossover/thrash. this is deffenitely one of my favorite cd's in my collection. the music is brutal and the vocals are ripping and high pitched. seriously, get this if you don't already have it.

fast, pissed, and completelty skateable. Though i was expecting something a little more Bones Brigadesish, this guys play good shit and keep their originality. Grab a board, find some concrete and rip it up with Holier than thou

If you're into fast oldschool skatecore ala RKL, you'll fucking love this one ! Sounds like old RKL material (Keep Laughing period). There are 3 more tracks on the CD than on the LP version, what more could we ask ?

Excellent pissed-off hardcore punk with some classic crossover influences (think early DRI or Jerry's Kids). It's good to see that some bands are still playing the good stuff without sounding totally derivative or unoriginal. Reccomended.
