This, along with LLOV2, is ASC in their prime. This volume is slightly better than the second as it has more variety amongst the songs, but both are equally beautiful. It feels more like one long masterpiece as opposed to a bunch of decent songs. The experimentation with atmospheric sounds and ambiance create a very lush album full of beautiful noise. A few songs are pure ambiance, which may turn some off, but it adds to the brilliance and uniqueness of the album. The more upbeat tracks sound similar to their previous work, but it has cleaner production and makes for smoother strings. Botttom line: buy this album.

Fantastic CD, that's why I am giving it a 5. For fans of American Football, Sigur Ros, and melodic music. Buy this CD and LLOv2 together, I highly recommend it and you won't be dissapointed. If you don't like melodic music, then don't buy it, it isn't for you.

The Appleseed Cast are one of the best bands to ever make music period. They are a very mellow band that is great for any occasion, especially on rainy days or going to sleep. They remind me alot of Elliots songs like False Cathedrals but a lot better, I highly suggest checking them out. Any album is good!

this cd is much better then low level owl volume 2. it is also better then end of the ring wars. it is also better then two conversations. it is pretty much better than any other appleseed cast album. HOWEVER, it in no way, shape or form compares to mare vitalis. make no mistake, this cd is amazing in it's own right. their second best effort out to date. but i've got to give it four stars for this reason: there is too much filler. there are i believe 3 or 4 songs that are just ambience. and that tends to get boring. it was basically the same thing with LLOV2, except the difference here is that the real songs in between the filler are 10 times better. this album is one of those ones that you use that dredded "program" but on your cd player, and choose the tracks you want to hear one after another so you can skip over all the nonsense songs that hurt your ears and make you want to sleep. the good thing about this album is that 80% of the time, it rocks hard. songs such as signal, steps and numbers and mile marker. the best song on the album though, for me, has to be on reflection. that song alone is worth the buy. so to recap, buy mare vitalis, and/or this one. the rest, i sugguest listening to first because it may be an acquired taste for some.

i bought this and volume 2 together. and i suggest that if your planning on buying eiter one, just go for both. the 2nd cd starts off were the 1st one left off which is really cool. both volumes are amazing, and if your into instrumental stuff, this is for you. they make very original music and like they said, it's real headphone material.

this is one of the most atmospheric and airy records i have ever heard. the appleseed cast is like nothing you have ever listened to before. they use so many effects, like delay and reverb, yet their sound remains pure and organic. the lyrics aren't very notable, but the music compensates for that. this record is more like one long song, with many high and low points, than it is an ordinary collection of songs. i highly recommend this record, and all other appleseed cast and deep elm records.

This album's amazing. It sounds like they gave it all they had for each song. I love Walking of Pertelotte the most, and that's the first song. I hope they can make an album as good as this. Much different than the previous releases that were much more straightforward. This is much more than indie/emo rock. Low Level Owl is an atmospheric album that can paint a picture.

There really aren't words for this music, it's just music. The Appleseed Cast seems like they hold a tiny microphone to the human soul and put it on a record. There are times during this album where I was in tears at just an instrumental. This is what music is.
