Alkaline Trio

From Here To Infirmary

(Smoking Popes)

Vagrant 353

Released on April 3, 2001

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The Alkaline Trio has managed to put together a masterpiece on this their third full- length studio album. It is everything a punk album should be: dark, moving cynical, hopeful, wide eyed and world weary all at the same time.

Definitely the worst effort by Alkaline Trio (including the upcoming 'Agony & Irony', which is good), but still worth owning for fans of the band. Songs like "Take Lots With Alcohol", "Stupid Kid", and "Steamer Trunk" are just so goddamn awful, but shit like "Crawl", "You're Dead", and "Mr. Chainsaw" kind of even it out. If new to the band, obviously start from the beginning and go in order of release... you should probably do that with all bands, actually.

This is my favorite alk3 album, and the LP has different versions of the songs from the ones I had grown to love, but the slight differences make it all the more interesting to listen to. It's a great album and a must have for any alkaline trio fan.

This is my favorite Alakline Trio album and my favorite lineup of the band ever! Once Mike Femulee left, the whole package just seemed different. Classic Chicago punk rock songs on here.

I enjoy it, but its miles from being my favorite Alk3 album. I would say that if you are young and poor, slide on past and pick up either Maybe I'll Catch Fire, or Goddamnit.

Alkaline Trio are one of the greatest bands in rock today. There songs are simple, yet amazing overall. This isn't their best realease, but it is still incredible. Songs like Private Eye or Trucks and Trains make my jaw hit the floor. If you are just getting into them get Goddamnit first, and then get the rest. This album is great. nothing much more i can say.

All I have to say is, even though I'm more of a hardcore fan, I'm all about Alk3. Buy this, the CD, every other CD, because I've yet to hear one song that wasn't heartfelt and catchy at the same time.
