Not much i can say here except this album rules. Most people already know this by now. Long, but awesome.

I had heard a lot of stuff hyping the Minutemen, mainly from 'Our band could be you're life' by Micheal Azerrad (which, if you haven't read and you're a fan of 1980s American Alterna-Punk, you should be lynched) so I ordered this album.

Talk about living up to the hype! The Minutemen provide everything that Gang of Four promise you, but never quite deliver. Its thinking mans punk rock, but its never dull. Its experimental, but always retains purpose.

This band COULD be you're life. I can't stop listening to them. Its a blessing and a curse. My head hurts, but it is a good pain.

The Minutemen, the most original punk band in my opinion ever. They have songs that are soft, hard, ska, regge and others. Think of Bob Dylan as a punk band(like has been stated before). Mike Watt is the best punk bassist that has ever lived and has influenced the likes of Matt Freeman and Flea. D Boon(R.I.P) was an amazing guitarist, and a great lyricist. George Hurly is the most talented punk drummer in my opinion. He is great. They all are. The combo of the 3 is just plain sick.

Now,these guys are classified as hardcore,it may not show on this album, but they are(im pretty sure its on their other albums, which I have not heard).Dont expect Black Flag or Bad Brains.

Now,this album is a very long album(over 70 minutes!!) but the songs are all very short. Most of them are around 1:30,43 in all. Now, some of the songs are very random, like cohesion is just an accustic performance(which you dont usually hear from a punk band) and others are more from their punk roots(Political Song for Michael Jackson to Sing,Shit from an old notebook etc). My favorites songs are "Vietnam","Political Song for Michael Jackson to Sing","Shit from an old Notebook","Corona","West Germany","This Aint no Picnic","History Lesson Part 2","Toadies". Yeah, those are the ones you should check out in my opinion. All in all, great cd,pick it up.

I have had this cd on my iPod for quite some time now,but needed to actually buy it.

Does this need a review? "Punk Rock Changed Our Lives"- History Lesson II, song number 23. Some people dont like Minutemen though because they have a unique sound that can be all over the place. To me though, life wouldnt have been the same if I didnt grow up with this album.

This has to be one of my favorite CD's I own. The Minutemen were brillian musicians and never failed to amuse me. Although some may think Corona is now a popular song (Jackass) I bought this after hearing the first 10 songs off a buddys CD. It's really good, funkish rock. D. Boon lives on.

innovative, intelligent, and fun. minute men are in a class of their own. they blend syles of funk, jam, punk, and reggae on frappe and give you an ice cold fuck you smoothie! d boon's lyrics are politically charged, and well though out. i bought this album because i read that they were bradley nowell of sublime's favorite band(he also said the descendents were his favorite). they aren't like sublime in sound as much, but their inovation is the same. they took what other bands were doing and kicked the shit out of it until they had an original masterpeice that would change people's lives! you can deffinantly tell that mike watt's bass style influenced eric wilson of sublime, lbda, and all his other bands. minute men aren't somthing i can listen to all the time, but they give you a breath of cool, fresh air when you need a change. a four!

This is really super fucking awsome! This guys, I first heard about in that book "Our band could be your life" by Micheal Azerrad. (pick it up it is a good read) Well I liked what I read about them so I picked up some music to go with the band, and I am so fucking glad I did! The music isnt hard, but it isnt soft. And D.Boon (the vocalist that is) Doesnt really sing as much as he talks, but he doesnt talk. Confusing? Well buy this and you will see what I mean. Its good great music with even better words. Its a long one though 76 minutes or something like that. But it is absoutly essential if your into punk. These are fucking the best! So if you like good music, be it hardcore, ska, jazz, punk or what the fuck ever(except Emo, you all suck, GO THE FUCK AWAY!)buy this now, or regret it!

I bought this CD because I was on a quest to find something different and innovative, and it seemed to be general knowledge that Minutemen were original. That's truly an understatement. "Innovative" is not enough; these guys are absolutely gifted. While their songs are distinctively theirs, there is no true pattern to them. Usually they take a blindingly fast drum line, attach a funk bass/guitar duo, and add screaming, but this changes with the weather, and one can find them playing straight-up blues, soft rock, or hardcore. The vocal styling is reminiscent of Fugazi, also in terms of lyrics, which tend toward the political side but not to a pretentious extent. This band doesn't even follow the norm in patterns for song structure, as most of their songs clock in under the 2-minute mark, allowing for a 43-song masterpiece on 1 CD. Additionally, you'll find some of the most talented musicians in the history of punk rock here, with D. Boon playing astonishing chords and blindingly fast funk, Mike Watt establishing his status as the most underrated punk bassist of all time, and Hurley always finding something different and interesting to do with his drum lines for each of the 43 songs on this release. This is a very refreshing and inspiring album for anyone who needs something different.

This is THE classic Minutemen album. An absolute must for anyone who considers themselves a fun of them. Take my word for it, it's worthy every red cent.

This a fucking awasome cd. Its like nothing youve ever heard. Many bands who try and switch thur styles during an album usaully suck at it but these guys pull it off perfactly recommend for any one with an open mind.
