Since forming in 1993, A Wilhelm Scream has cascaded
onto a scene desperately in need of a new sound
and vision. Drawing influences from several directions,
A Wilhelm Scream has deciphered the code to open the
door for a new brand of powerful punk rock. While
often compared to punk rock visionaries Propaghandi
and Hot Water Music, A Wilhelm Scream's style reinvents
itself with every chord, making the listener hold
their breath and wonder what's next.
A Wilhelm Scream has five different releases over the
eight years they've been together. The latest, “Benefits
Of Thinking Out Loud,” takes us into their own world of
confusion, angst, sorrow, loss, disillusionment, and of
course, alcohol. The band's approach to writing their
songs is complex, involving layers upon layers of punk
sensibility turned upside down and inside out, coated
with metal alloy, and then driven into your skull with a
chisel and hammer. And that's just the opening chord of
the album. Ouch!
On the lighter side of the spectrum is the band's ability
to communicate with their audience through approachable
lyrical content. They take pure emotions and shrivel
them up in their own brand of narcotic sensationalism.
A Wilhelm Scream's live show backs up their stereophonic
dominance; only the sound in this case is in your
face and pounding your head on a steel-spiked table.
The band ignites the crowd with their raucous style and
vigor, leaving them overwhelmed and still wanting
more. The band has been on five East Coast tours in the
past twp years, and is only going to go even further
with this, their best effort to date.

I like this cd, but it didn't do for me what the other smackin' isaiah and A wilhelm scream albums did. It does have that raw punk sound that i like..but something about it..right in the middle of their good and bad...alot of tracks seemed to be just fillers.

AWS! Possibly the greatest band of all time. They dont come much better then this folks.
This cd is mega rustic and kinda under-produced but fuck me it works. Its fast and abrasive quality wilhelm, almost gutter punk. I love it. Its nowhere near as good as ruiner nor mute print, but its still one of my favourite cds, so thats saying something. If you havent heard AWS before, then i suggest you get mute print, otherwise, if your a massive fan like me, you just have to get this cd. If you dont your a fucking cockhead.
For all fans of swearing, melody, mind boggling lyrics, fast drums, chunky guitars and singing so passionate you could come your pants.

I don't think i could ever give anything A Wilhelm Scream does a bad review. This cd definitly is my least favorite, probably because i got Mute Print when it came out, then Ruiner, and never bothered to check this one out. Anyhwho, if you're just getting into AWS for the first time then i suggest getting Ruiner then mute print first. Then if you love them as much as me, and most people do then get this cd for sure.

A Wilhelm Scream is the shit. Enough said. However, if you already own Mute Print or Ruiner, you will be greatly surprised by this CD, and not necessarily in a good way. This album is not as intense as the other two, but it is still great. The best song is definitely A Chapter Of Accidents. It just sounds like the band hadn't quite found their "unique sound" yet when they recorded this album. Still worth your $ though, so get it, bitch!

I think this has become my favorite of all their releases. Song #1 just sets it off fast as sh#!. Great punk the way it should be. Think......Smackin' Isaiah's old stuff but a bit more melodic and just as fast. Phenomenal.

Man this cd is awsome, if you like mute print and not much of a fan of the new one then this is a MUST BUY no doubts in my mind. The musical sound of it is a bit lighter and more on the street punk side of things, just the way I love it.

a very solid release from these passionate and energetic rock superstars (a little cheesy but they deserve it). Tracks 3 and 6 leave you breathless and all others songs are good enough to render this cd borderlining brilliance. While i hav the microphone (this is a little off topic), the new 'NO USE FOR A NAME' album is attrocious, and missed the mark by so much its not even worth writing about in an interpunk item review. i say this because 'the benefits of thinking out loud' is a good cd, where as 'keep them confused is the opposite, terrible...peace people
