Stockyard Stoics

Stockyard Stoics

Roots Rock Rebel 2

Released on April 2, 2002

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Review from "Classic angry punk rock, delivered with tons of rage, integrity and awareness of punk's lineage. All the wide-ranging influences and catchiness of The Clash, all the idealism and energy of Operation Ivy (and, just between you and me, they have chops too). Punks not dead."

By the way, this is Chrza, not Connie. Ok, now there isn't really anything to say but this is a great fuckin' cd and Joe Piglet is one of the best singers in the real punk rock scene to date.

Later, Hail Satan.

Really well done street punk, with former members of the fucking Readymen! Comparisons can be made to the Clash and especially Stiff Little Fingers, but the first thing that I was reminded of when I heard it was American Steel's "Rogue's March" album. Though this has a bit more of a straight-ahead punk approach, it still has a very similar sound. Shit, not much more I can say...damn good old school punk rock with a few tinges of 80's hardcore and ska smattered about the record, what's not to like? Extra points for the intelligent lyrics (not a common trait amongst street punk bands) and especially the Elvis reference! Buy it...fuck tha police.

favorite cd of all time. ever. every song is incredible and their lead singer is rad. buy this because it rocks you. i can't choose a favorite song or even three because they are all so incredible. sound like a street punk clash crossed with american steel but still retain their own distinct style. do yourself a favor and buy this.

this cd is pretty cool ,catchy and upbeat, but they dont sound anything like leftover crack or morning glory, infact they sound very similar to the band american steel, check out their 1st s/t them both.

Yo, just because interpunk says they sound like the clash doesnt mean believe it. i was never a clash fan, and i hate it when people say that bands are similar to another. if a band is really that good, they have a style of their own. The stockyard stoics are a great group, so dont let any of these lame comparisons turn you off of buying this cd. For the record, the clash weren't even a punk band, they were rock and roll, and they still werent that great. sorry kids! let's see what kind of comments that one gets...

Why Oh Why do so many of the best bands break up so quickly! Minor Threat, Operation Ivy, Common Rider, Kid Dynamite, IN-DK, The Nerve Agents, The Readymen and Of course the Stockyard Stoics. The Stockyard Stoics have been one of my favorite bands for such a long time and it makes me so sad to know all they have released is a 7" and one CD. This album is excellent. Every song is catchy Street-punk leaving you reminiscent of the Clash (just listen to Not For Sale and you'll see what I mean, especially the outro of that song which sounds just like the outro to Safe European Home). The Stoics have catchy basslines, great drumming, and awesome guitar riffs and solos which are quite similar to the Readymen (which had some of the Stoics members), just buy this album if you like any kind of punk I am SURE you will like it, I don't see how anyone could not. Any guitarist or bassist come to my site its stevestabs dot cjb dot net I do tabs of SO many bands including the stoics and the bands I listed above. Check it out after you BUY THIS CD.

I bought this album without hearing any of the songs, or even knowing what the band sounded like. All that I knew was that the guitarist and drummer were members of one of my favorite bands...THE READYMEN! While this is no Readymen cd, it is a great album. For fans of the Readymen, you should definitely check this out. Brendans guitar playing is quite similar to the sound of albums past.
