Pink Holes

We're Glad We Are What We Are Revisited

Smog Veil 19

Released on October 1, 2001

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The 1st in a series of Pink Holes reissues for Smog Veil, this is the 1st Pink Holes LP from 1984 reissued with extra tracks including the entire live show from the Lakefront and never before seen photos.. Cleveland punk rock afficionados will note that a former Pagan and current New Salem Witch Hunter and Satan's Satellite appear on this. Please note that this CD is best heard drunk so that you'll overlook the bonus track which mysteriously appears in the middle of the CD (as opposed to the end). BlankGeneration.com said: “This goofy reissue of the first Pink Holes LP showcases the band’s sound circa 1984, both in the studio and out. Funny. Rough around the edges. In a pretty juvenile sense, entertaining--especially if you like covers of Johnny Cash tunes ("Ring of Fire") and old acne medication jingles (Stridex?). "I touched her kitty-cat, I felt what it was like, and I liked it." How can you resist that? You can’t.. Give it a listen.” GEARHEAD #11 said: “I couldn’t believe that nobody reissued these gems...if you loved ‘em before you still will, if you’ve never heard of ‘em, jump in--the water’s still fine!” (Mike LaVella) MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL #217 said: “This go around I’m hearing a definite early Replacements vibe, with the trash rock and the humor and lotsa cover tunes. But they’re definitely their own band. Now I’m starting to wonder why these guys weren’t a lot bigger band. Maybe cos the guitarist refused to wear diapers!” ROCTOBER #30 said: “Fans of absurdity should seek this out!”

I bought this CD because I heard that a member of the Pagans was in this band (the Pagans are fucking awesome). Unfortunately, this totally sucks. It's supposed to be funny, I guess, but it doesn't come off that way at all. ...And the vocals are incredibly weak. If you're interested in this band, get their "Breakfast With The Holes" CD; the vocals are much better and it's actually funny...and I'd probably have to say that it would get 3 out of 5 stars.

I just sold this disc o' crap to a used CD store and got a Nomeansno CD with the cash. If you were unlucky enough to have already have bought this CD, I suggest you do the same.
