It’s been over two years since Underoath burst on to the scene with their debut Solid State Records release, “The Changing of Times,” which garnered an influx of MTV2 airplay, nonstop touring with bands like Atreyu and Bleeding Through, and the title of the best selling debut release in Solid State’s history. Now, with the help of producer James Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, Further Seems Forever), these six Florida natives are ready to progress even further with their highly anticipated follow-up, “They’re Only Chasing Safety,” guaranteed to reel fans in with its 10 tracks of infectious hooks and choruses and fresh blend of heavy rock with an electronic heavy base.

This album rocks! I ordered it almost a year ago and didn't even listen to it until recently. If you like this new age screamo crap, it is great! I'm usually into punk like NOFX, Good Riddance, Rise Against, etc, but for screamo, this is great! If you like this band, you need to check out this band from Portland called The Coterie.

I actually knew Underoath for quite some time before I had bought the cd but I have heard a lot from their Changing of Times and their EPs. When I got the cd I was completely amazed with the screaming and singing. I have always thought that Aaron had amazing vocals (whether or not people believe he sounds like Adam from Taking Back Sunday) and Spencers screaming was a hell of a lot better than Dallas (sorry bud, I still dig your vox) but I knew I liked the new Underoath more.
The first two songs are like twins. They share the same intense vocals and lash out to the listener as if saying, "Yo, keep listening it only gets better!" And thats what happened it just told me to keep listening because I knew it was going to amaze me.
The Impact of Reason, the song they love using for their sound check...listening to the song on the cd and then listening to it during their sound check completely gorged me in passion for these guys. The song is amazing live and on the record. Its more intense than the first two.
Then we come to the most popular, Reinventing Your Exit, yeah so we all heard this song like 2 years ago and it made us all say, "yeah this bands good", and I admit it was the first song I heard (from the new Underoath) but it still didn't make me buy it...lol but the song does kick major ass. I would have to say its the song even your mom would like but its still Underoath and it still rocks.
The Blue Note, is beautiful...yeah (post)hardcore beautifulness thats all that I can say about it...its like the bridge to the other half of the record. It actually ties really good into the cd.
Track 6, Its Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door, is an AMAZING one, its raw with emotion and engaged with so much anger. Aarons vocals are awesome and Spencer keeps doing what he was born to do.
One of my favorites, Down Set Go, is great. Its not as hard as the others but it still leaves the Underoath fan with a lot of respect and keeps the listener happy all the way around. When I first heard this song I knew I would be listening to them for a long time.
I Don't Feel Very Receptive Today is probably the hardest song on the record. Its all just Spencer screaming his heart out with no back up from Aaron which makes it a pretty interesting song. I love it because its so intense and awesome to mosh to!
Now my favorite song, I'm Content With Losing, gave me the feel of awwwwwwwwwwwwww woooooooow, look at what I have been missing. The vocals, instruments and words are just so completely amazing! The cd wouldn't be complete without it!
Lastly is, Some Will Seek Forgiveness Others Escape,it is an awesome song with vocals by Aaron Marsh (Copeland) its a really good song that reflects on their Christian beliefs. I don't care hardcore or not this song really makes me respect them more because they aren't afraid to share there beliefs...God Bless Underoath and their fans!
I recommend this record to anyone! GO AND BUY IT and the Limited Edition one too!

This cd is deep screamo and i love it. Highly recomended, however several people have tried to steal it from me. This cd makes me really proud to be christian. The church and several religious leaders in my area give God a really bad name. The last song, "some seek forgiveness, others escape" is how i define God. This cd is a masterpiece.

As it was said before, you must know before you own this CD that Underoath's soud changed a lot. They changed so much that we can't call them a hardcore band band anymore, what they do is sometimes screamo, sometimes emo... Only one hardcore song (track 8). Although, they still are very good in this new style! Nice guitar riffs, nice emo breaks, a little of acoustic guitar... But I regret that the singer sings so few on this record. He sings as much as the drummer, I was expecting more singing from him (well he actually screams so I'd say that I was expecting more screaming). Good record, but not exceptional. It still really worths the price.

What's the big deal with this? Every person I've talked to about this CD says it's fucking amazing. It doesn't really rock my socks off. And I like most music along these lines, even bands that most people would say suck ass. Is it a good CD? Yeah, but I've heard better from the type of music they're attempting to make. They have definitely changed from The Changing of Times, and I personally like that one better. Their attempt of blending emo with hardcore like many bands attempt to do today isn't great.
I like this CD. But it's not as great as people are giving it credit for.

Okay, so bands change and evolve. I'm sure Underoath is happy with their new record and different sound. Not all bands will play the same style throughout their career. Having said that, this is a very consistent CD with great production. People call this band a rip-off TBS band, but they clearly aren't. All because the vocalists voices share a similar range and style, doesn't make them a TBS rip off. Also, Underoath are actually GOOD live. Their song structure and instrumentals are very much different. The screams are totally raw, but can get annoying after a while. Nonetheless, it's a pretty solid listen all the way through.
I know it's trendy to hate screamo, but this band is actually producing this music from the bottom of their heart- and that comes through CLEARLY on this CD.
