Get Up Kids

Guilt Show

Vagrant 392

Released on March 2, 2004

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Ask a band in today’s post-punk or modern rock scene which of their favorite bands most influenced their music. Chances are that one of the bands they will cite is The Get Up Kids. In fact, many give the Kansas-based quintet credit for reinventing music and starting an entire movement of new music and sounds. The band’s first two albums “Four Minute Mile” and “Something To Write Home About” are considered classics to fans and music critics alike. The band’s last album “On A Wire” went in a more mature direction and found that the Kids had indeed grown up. “Guilt Show” is the latest installment in the band’s influential career. It is a perfect blend of Get Up Kids’ past with another step forward into a future that is wide open for this group.

The Get Up Kids have always been one of my favorite emo bands, and Guilt Show was exactly as I expected it to sound. Not as good as earlier records, but a bit more along those lines than their previous album was. I enjoy this for the most part, but whenever I listen to it I just think about "Something to Write Home About" and wish they'd put a little more of that flavor into their music.

The get up kids are just class, this album is like on a wire and something to write home abouts child. A very good record.

this album is pretty damn good, its not the best Get Up Kids release by far, but i was pretty happy with it. I reccomend it if you are a pretty big fan, if not go with: Something to write home about, instead.

I recommend this cd to everyone with half a brain. You should buy this right now. I'm not kidding. Do it now. The Get Up Kids are one of the greatest bands ever to walk the face of the earth. If you haven't already figured that out yet, then buy some of their cd's and get with the program.

This was my first Get Up Kids cd and it certainly won't be my last. The Get Up Kids are a very talented band and it shows alot in this record. The lyrics and harmonies are the best part about it. I'd definitley buy this if I was you.

Hmmm, aint too sure about this one yet. It starts off great, the first two songs are pretty cool then it starts to go a bit 'Beatles' (y'know, that Sgt Pepper keyboard) in places. STWHA i loved immediatley, 'On A Wire' took me a while to like, and i get the feeling this may be the same. They need to get the rock back, and how.

After Something to Write Home About and Four Minute Mile, The Get Up Kids were one of my favorite bands. Eudora was alright and On a Wire sounded like some type of Beatles tribute. The Style of the band has changed so much since their start that it is hard to believe it is the same band. This CD may be a little better than On a Wire, but it still sucks ass. I like to see bands mature (i.e. Nofx, Lagwagon) but the Get Up Kids sound like they are moving backwards in time. This CD reminded me of Matchbox 20 or something, and I hate Matchbox 20. I am done buying Get Up Kids cd's. 2 strikes and you're out.

I for one enjoyed On A Wire so I wasn't hoping for some great revert back to the old GUK style with this record. It is probably most like Something To Write Home About in terms of song structures and pace but for me nothing can compare to that CD so Guilt Show is a bit of a let down. That doesn't meant it isn't good it's just not as good, still a solid and enjoyable effort though.

i didn't think on a wire was that bad, but i thought the get up kids were capable of a lot more...this is a cross between on a wire and something to write home about. I was very surprised yet glad to see they got more of an edge w/ this one, kind of back to there old sound but you can tell they still matured. def pick this up, it's a keeper
