This is the first vinyl edition of King Django's beloved Roots and Culture album. After at least five CD editions sold out, Stubborn had this edition mastered, pressed and printed in Kingston, Jamaica.
Internationally-known ska, punk and reggae master King Django’s has toured and recorded extensively as a solo artist, as leader of Skinnerbox and Stubborn All-Stars, and at various times as a member of the Murphy’s Law, Rancid, the Toasters, The Slackers and others. On his pioneering 1998 album, Roots and Culture, Django seamlessly blends his trademark NYC ska, rocksteady, roots reggae and dub sounds with traditional Hebrew folk music and klezmer. This is undeniably the original Jewish ska and reggae album, with lyrics in English, Yiddish and Hebrew, including eight original compositions as well as Yiddish cover versions of Madness’ “Night Boat to Cairo” and the Specials’ “Do Nothing.”
