Community Powered Radio (CPR) Benefit Compilation: Begin Transmission
Released on October 7, 2003
With over 20 songs from D.C. bands, interspersed with interviews and excerpts from radio shows, the CD sounds like one of Radio CPR’s (Community Powered Radio) broadcasts and represents what community-powered radio could be: diverse, raw, thought-provoking, and exciting. The accompanying 16-page, full-color booklet explains why local residents wanted their own radio station, and provides a history of the project.
The bands presented on this CD represent a range of current music D.C. has to offer, including punk, hip hop, Go-Go, soul, electronica, neo-rockabilly, and Latin rock. The bands are: Vertebrates, Pasha, Shortstack, Pigeons, RaRaFra+Am, Head-Roc, EBSK, Machetres, Afi, Scaramouche, Et At It, Crucial Defect, Canyon, Measles Mumps Rubella, 1905, Optimistic Tribe, Sounds of Kaleidoscope, French Toast , El Guapo, Deep Lust, Trance And The Arcade. Proceeds of this CD go to benefit Radio CPR.
