Live At The House Of Blues - The Show Must Go Off!

Kung Fu 78811

Released on September 9, 2003

$12.75
Buy

Orange County hometown heroes Guttermouth check all inhibitions at the door and give the crowd what they want, a live show full of obnoxious lyrics, rowdy mosh pits, and enough obscenity and debauchery to make Lenny Bruce blush. The rules for this show were thrown out the window except for one; every punker for him or herself!

this dvd is really great. has a lot of their best songs. though i wish they played some stuff from geogeous and teri yakimoto. marks voice sounds a little scratchy on the dvd but when you put in the cd its not, so thats good.

What makes Guttermouth great is that they're just like that annoying kid you remember from school that nobody liked and everyone made fun of.. so to retaliate he'd make it his goal to offend, humiliate, and torture anyone in his vicinity for his own amusement. Guttermouth's goal is to piss you off, display no shame, offend the politically correct, abuse toilet humor to the max, and smile in the process. This DVD/CD isn't for those little emo kids with their hair covering their face, their pale white skin, and girl pants crying to the latest My Chemical Romance video abortion on MTV.

One thing that Kung-Fu records are good at it is their "Show Must Go Off" video series. The video and audio on here is perfect. But there are some disappointing faults with this DVD/CD that I have to mention but its pretty much Guttermouth’s fault and not Kung-Fu's. First off Mark's voice gets shot within a few songs into the show and he just sounds worse and worse as the show goes on. It wouldn't be as bad if you were in the crowd live for this show but the fact that this is on DVD means that they should have probably scrapped this concert and filmed another show to put on DVD. What's funny though is that on the CD Mark's voice sounds just perfectly fine. It's pretty obvious that they went to a studio and edited the live performance on the CD version to give Mark better vocals. My guess is that they didn't do this for the DVD version because you'd probably notice his vocals not matching his mouth movements and go, "he's lip synching, that's not punk!" So yeah that's kind of a shitty thing to do, they should have just filmed another performance. Another fault is that Guttermouth play nothing from the album Gorgeous, what the hell is with that? You can't play any songs from your best album? No Hit Machine, no Con Especial, no I Have A Dream, no Food Storage, no High Balls!!!! C'mon, there's no excuse for not playing any songs off of Gorgeous.

Ok so I got all the bad out of the way. The good thing is despite the fact that Mark's voice gets fucked up during the show on the DVD version and the fact that there are no songs from Gorgeous, there is at least the fact that Guttermouth's stage antics and rambling banters are still extremely hilarious. Plus the set list is a very good one for having no "Gorgeous" songs. These guys are always outrageous live and this was no exception. The DVD commentary they have on here is also pretty damn hilarious. Plus they apologize for putting the album Gusto out, so that's all hilarious stuff to watch and listen too if you're a Guttermouth fan. So I conclude that all Guttermouth fans should still eventually buy this DVD/CD. If you're just getting into Guttermouth then you really shouldn't start off with this DVD/CD; go buy Gorgeous, Musical Monkey, Eat Your Face, Friendly People, Covered With Ants instead as first choices. If you're not a Guttermouth fan then stop reading this and go listen to you're My Chemical Romances and Coheed & Cambria's instead you worthless pond scum!!

Enjoy!

It's alright, you should buy real albums first. The DVD is funny and all, but I bought it for the CD, because I got Eat Your Face and love it, and just had to hear more, and I didn't want to pay too much.

The video footage was great: the music was really good, but the singer sounded wierd that night! It's a good video though. I recommend it if you like guttermouth.
