Mental Weaponry

A-F 30

Released on October 21, 2003

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

On their second A-F Records release, Mental Weaponry, Sacramento's PIPEDOWN further expands on the punk rock fury that gained them widespread attention. After touring alongside ANTI-FLAG, STRIKE ANYWHERE, THRICE and AGAINST ALL AUTHORITY, among others, PIPEDOWN continue to grow and hone their punk assault, flavored with a serious, sobering political foundation. Mental Weaponry brings forth the next chapter in PIPEDOWN's evolution, making them one of the most promising bands on the A-F Records roster.

I'm finally writing the review for this bad boy...Pipedown is a killa band with a focused optimistic view. All the songs contain a message that is worth hearing. Their sound is also pretty kickass, except the odd tune or two its feels a little repitive. These guys are like a mix of strike anywhere-black flag, topped off with nofx. If thatz ur recipe for disaster then... ur a pussy! Recommended Tracks: Leviathan and Voids

In my opinion this one is just as strong or better than Enemies of Progress. Intense, hard driven anthems with that Pipedown essence you expect. Songs like, Ammunition, Losing the Sum, Leviathon, and the Overworld are the highlights of the album. I say the nay-sayers nay, but this is one good album and i highly recommend it. Take it to the dome!

This CD doesn't suck or anything, I was just kinda disappointed. "Enemies of Progress" is much better in my opinion.

Some songs have an old AFI esque sound to them too, so that was kind of bummer as well...(not saying I don't like AFI).

EOP is great but I wouldn't get too preoccupied about adding this to you collection.

Really good. After listening to it a couple times you can see the similiarity to bands like AFI. Everythings really good just get it.

This is god, buy this CD now

it needs more than 5 stars 15+

The guitar is absolutely spectacular, the experimentation is beyond successful, the drums are perfect, the vocals genius. Almost all the songs are equal or better than the horror on the first album, and thats saying something.

This is what you call a really good intense hardcore band. Songs like "Losing the sum" had real intensity and "Knowledge the weapon" had intensity but it was a damn good song too. "Order" and "Leviathan" rocked too. Most songs on this cd rocked. There was not a bad one at all. It reminds me of the real good hardcore that sorta vanished like from 1995 and got replaced by more crappy hc bands like alexisonfire. Examples of better HC that I am referring to:

Shelter Boy Sets Fire Bane Ten Yard Fight Buried Alive No Innocent Victim Reach The Sky

and more.......

I could rave about this cd for awhile.

A decent cd from a pretty good band. I bought this cd expecting another enemies of progress, but what i got was more of an emoish just decent cd. The thing that i liked most about the old cd was the awesome bass riffs, nowhere to be found on this cd. there are some cool parts, but nowhere close to the other cd. Also this ones alot slower, adn like i said sort of "emoey". I would definatly suggest enemies of progress over this one.

This cd is amazing!! this is the only pipedown cd i ahve but i heard of them through the A-F records sampler that comes with Mobilize and i really like the songs on there so i got this. at first when i heard them on the sampler(2 years ago) i didnt liek them i thought they were to metalish but i listened to them again later and was like man they are good. I can't tell if any of the songgs are as good as Rise up from EoP. If you liek Anti-Flag, The Code,Thought Riot,or AFI you will like this.It sounds alot like Black Sails from AFI sometimes(which is good to me but maybe not to u). I'm listening to this right now!
