Tales Of Gross Pollution 1995/1996

Disaster 9020

Released on September 16, 2003

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Last May SMOGTOWN ceased to exist. The legendary Southern California punk-hardcore band is no more. CHAVEZ, GUITARDO, CHIP and TIM only recorded two full albums, F├╝hrers of the New Wave in 2000 and Domesticviolenceland in 2001, both of them on DISASTER, and released a handful of vinyl releases; they rarely toured outside California but managed to build a loyal cult following all around the world. The originality of their sound combined with their clever, subversive songwriting, made them unique. In order to close this musical chapter, SMOGTOWN and DISASTER have decided to release the original, previously unheard early demos, recorded by the band in 1995 and 1996. These 19 tracks showcase SMOGTOWN at its early stage: fresh, intense, already in control of its sound. All the material on Tales of Gross Pollution is UNRELEASED and this CD includes photos, flyers as well as liner notes by Chavez.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Smogtown fan. But this is mostly demo stuff from their earliest days...I don't think their style and form was quite as refined yet. Not terrible, but their other stuffs a better introducton to Smogtown. Would have preferred vinyl too!
