Artist in the Ambulance
Island 29502.2
Released on July 22, 2003
|
Irvine California's own Thrice recently recorded their Island Records debut, The Artist in the Ambulance, helmed by producer Brian McTernan (Snapcase, Converge) at Salad Days studios in Washington DC. With other top talent such as engineer Michael Barbiero (Metallica) and Andy Wallace (Nirvana) solidifying the final mix, the album promises a sonic quality second to none. Features the first single "All That's Left."
Thrice will be donating a portion of retail sales of "The Artist in the Ambulance" to the Syrentha J. Savio Endowment. The Syrentha J. Savio Endowment (SSE) provides chemotherapy and other medication for individuals who cannot afford the expense. Since its formation in February of 2002, the endowment has raised almost $50,000 through National Races for the Cure, charity concerts, auctions, and dinners.

thrice have pleased me once again with this new album. the heavy bass and the crazy guitar is still at work and the lyrics uncovered emotions behind the band that entice you to keep listening. stare at the sun and blood clots and black holes are probably the two best songs but paper tigers is really good because his screaming is hell it is much different to many other songs. teppei is the biggest legend ever...

Thrice really is one of the most original and talented bands out there. I love them. Of Identity Crisis, The Illusion of Safety, and The Artist in the Ambulance, it's about impossible to decide which is better. This is why you should own them all. Even if you have to kill for them. Because morals don't matter; we've learned that money matters most.

All I can say about this album is WOW! This is Thrice's best thus far, and this album has secured a place in my top 10 fav albums of all time. It didn't loose it's steam from start to finish. My fav songs on this jewel are Stare at the Sun, and Melting Point of Wax. I was very impressed with the guitar. Each riff hit and hit again, never loosing its momentum. Vocals were bittersweet and kept a good melody and screamo mix. Well I could talk forever about this ablums tumulent force but hey just get off you ass and buy it if you are a screamo fan, I promise you won't be sorry.

Great release. Thrice has managed to produce another solid album, major label no less! While I do love this album, I do have to say that I tend to listen to some songs a lot more than others. Some of the stuff on this cd is just absolutely incredible, while the other stuff is good, but not great. This is a shame, because I'm probably not appreciating the quality of some of the other songs on this album enough.
My favorite songs are Cold Cash, Colder Hearts, Under A Killing Moon, All That's Left, Paper Tigers, Blood Clots and Black Holes, and The Artist in the Ambulance. Definitely buy this album if you have any interest in Thrice, and also be sure to check out their other albums as well, you won't be disappointed.

This album from thrice is really good. Better than I expected. You should definatly buy this album. Not for just "All Thats Left". There are songs on here that are way better than just the single. I bought this after hearing about them from my friend. The songs are very nicely written and the lyrics from the heart. The only reason I gave it a four is because the production made this sound to metalish instead of how the stuff sounds live. All in all good record.
