Phase Three

1-4-5 Records 1

Released on July 22, 2003

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

It's been five years since The Riverdales recorded their classic album, "Storm the Streets," and promptly broke up. Five long years of listening to watered-down, empty imitations of the band and their sound, and hoping that maybe, just maybe, The Riverdales would return once again to give us a taste of punk rock at its best and most real.

Finally, the wait is over. The Riverdales are back. And they're back in a big way, with 12 blistering tunes of punk rock perfection, making up their third album, "Phase Three." Picking up where "Storm the Streets" left off, "Phase Three" is The Riverdales best and most ambitious album yet: a ballsy record that combines the furious, high energy sound of "Storm the Streets" with some of the golden oldies touches from the first album to create a record that is sure to be the band's crowning achievement.

With Foster and Schafer again trading off on lead vocal duties, and new drummer Dan Lumley, the band is tighter and sharper than ever. With a different vocal style than you've heard from the band, and catchy tunes like "Homesick," and "A.W.O.M.," that will quickly have you wondering how you got by without The Riverdales for five years, not to mention Ben's soon-to-be-classic "Last Stop Tokyo," and Dan Schafer's Ronettes- like ballad "I Believe in You and Me," Phase Three is an instant punk rock classic.

Great record. Probably my favorite by The Riverdales although I haven't heard the first one on Lookout. I think it's out of print or somethin. Anyway, if you like Vapid's voice and VERY Ramonesy music then get this.

This is a Great CD overall. Some of the songs are AWESOME like Homesick, Out of My Heart, Getaway, Party at the Beach,I believe in you and Me, and Last Stop Tokyo. But then some songs are just okay. But I definitely think it is a CD worth getting. If you liked screeching Weasel at all you would probably like Ben's new band. They still have that old school Ramones sound to them. If there was a 4.5 star rating then I would give it that.

What more you would expect from the riverdales some rip-roarin ramonesy punk rock that is AWESOME. This album is not as good as their previous albums due to lack of stand out tracks but still great.

Shit, what can I say about this album that hasn't already been said in the other 63 reviews that have been made for this CD? Well I guess I can say out of all three Riverdales albums that this one is my favorite at this moment. When I first got it I didn't listen to it that much but as I went back to listen to if after ignoring it for quite some time I really started to enjoy it more and more. Yeah its only 23 minutes long but I think that it is a prefect running time for a CD with this type of Ramones-influenced punk rock.

Oh yeah, I just want to add that the new Methadones CD is awesome. I's very cool that I got an autographed copy of Not Economically Viable here from interpunk and I can't wait to see The Methadones at The Metro on Dec 23rd with the Blue Meanies, it should be some good times.

OK, so I didnt really expect a new Riverdales album. But its here, and its good. I wanna think its better than Storm the Streets, but it is Not. But smokes the first album. Ben seems to be in good form with his oddball riffs and arrangments, while Vapid is sticking to his format, with perfect Pop/Punk/Rock masterpieces. They should stick with it, and forget Weasel for a while. Bring the Riverdales on the road, and leave the Weasels back in Chicago. BUT dont get me wrong. This is pure Genius. They sound more like The Vapids all the time. ha ha ha

Don't get me wrong a few songs on this are amazing like as good as the Riverdales get, other tracks seem to be making up the numbers. If you like the whole Screeching Weasel/riverdales sound axis of power get it as there are great songs on here, for a first timer I'd get "storm the Streets" or "Bark like a dog" or "Anthems..." by Screeching Weasel

This is okay. It's not as good as their s/t debut, but then again, what can be. Actually, it is pretty good.

A good album, yet it doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the 1st two. It was tossed together and quickly tossed away. Ben likes to make money to live and I certainly understand that, but this was a one timer to get some living money for 2003. It's not bad though in that sense.
