Punk Rock Is Your Friend Vol. 4

Kung Fu 78817

Released on July 1, 2003

$5.00
Buy

Punk Rock is your Friend- Sampler #4, marks a new direction not only for Kung Fu Records, but for the bland sampler CD format as well. With a solid 18 tracks the element to shove this one over the top are the tracks taken from Kung Fu's new live punk DVD series "The Show Must Go Off." This will be the first punk CD sampler in history to feature songs from DVD releases. Mest and One Man Army are the proud bands to claim this right. This sampler also features an unreleased track from punk rock heavyweights The Vandals, a demo track from our newest band The God Awfuls, a demo of an upcoming Antifreeze song, plus a delightful selection of tunes from some of the newer Kung Fu releases. In addition to all this fine audio are select videos taken directly from “The Show Must Go Off” DVD Series from Mest, One Man Army and punk rock sweethearts The Alkaline Trio! All this plus the newest promotional videos from Ozma, Tsunami Bomb and The Vandals.

Not band, but not as good as I had anticipated. To many girly sounding pop punk bands on it. Some of the better ones are: Vandals, One Man Army, The God Awfuls. The Vandals saved this compilation.

I got it because of the vandals, and the sudio karate tracks, but there is alot more top this album. the best part was the live track bye The Adolecents (ceatures) is voice is alot deeper, instead of his normal high piched winy sound, its alot kooler. THIS CD KICKS ASS, just bye it right know, you know you want to....... it's awsome.

Nice... nothing more than your average punk rock but really nice its DEFEANTELY worth the money. I'm giving it a 3 because I'm a tough critic and I like music with more edge, but I got what I expected, a cd that I can play in the background and tap my feet to. Ofcourse Useless ID (YEAH for Israeli punk!!! The punk scene rules down there), The Ataris and ofcoruse Tsunami Bomb were well at least my favourite on this one.

THIS CD WAS OK. OZMA... OK, AUDIO KARATE... NOT GOOD, TSUNAMI BOMB... ALWAYS KICK ASS, THE VANDALS... CLASSIC. BUT THE BEST PART OF THIS MEDIOCORE COMP. WAS THE GOD AWFULS. THIS BAND HAS A GOOD CLASSIC PUNK SOUND AND I'M LOOK FORWARD TO THIER RELEASE. USELESS I.D. WAS GOOD AND ANTIFREEZE AND MI6 ARE MORE BANDS THAT SOUND LIKE THE NORMAL POP-PUNK. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE THE LIVE ONE MAN ARMY TRACK BUT THE BIG DOWNER WAS NO ALKALINE TRIO LIVE TRACK TO JUST LISTEN TO. THIS COMP. IS GOOD FOR THE MONEY BUT IT ONLY HAS A FEW TRACKS THAT POP OUT AT YOU.

Good cd, buy it, but its time to make a statement. For all u complaining sons of bitches saying oh this band is selling out, and blah blah blah, hmm lets see how dumb r u kids? Rancid has had videos on mtv longer than Green Day, starting with "salvation" in 1993. Yeah and Nofx has over a half-dozen videos. So shut up with ur "they have a video on mtv?" bullshit. And u cant complain that rancid "sold out" when the deal with warner brothers hasnt gone through totally. And i turned on mtv2 the other day and saw the following bands' music videos playing: Starting Line, Good Charlotte (say what u must), the Ataris, AFI, Thrice, Thursday, Brand New, Dropkick Murphys, and ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES. if the gimme gimmes r on mtv2 u cant us "they have a video on tv" as a reason for "selling out". after all black flag had music videos, so did the Ramones, Black Flag, the Jam, the Clash, and the Sex Pistols, and without them this site wouldn't exist, so quit your bitching about bands "selling out" because if u didnt download their music they wouldnt have to advertise to make enough money to make another album for you to STEAL off the internet. Shut up and quit your bitching. Cuz I don't wanna hear it.

I bought this cd for the videos only. I love Tsunami Bomb and the few bucks I spent payed for their "take the reins video". One man army was cool, too. Vandals were nothing special, Alkaline Tio blows goats, Ozma & Ataris suck. So there you go, I gave it 4 stars for two videos and a couple songs I already own. Get it, its cheap.

For the insanely cheap price, this is a real kick ass sampler. All the Kung Fu bands are awesome and there's 6 videos on it also. The best songs are the one's by Ozma, the Vandals, and Tsunami Bomb. Also the video of Alkaline Trio is cool. Sum of the songs by the Ataris are good too. I would highly suggest buying this, and even if your not interested, just buy it anyways, its like 4 bucks.
