Shane MacGowan

If I Should Fall From Grace

Released on April 22, 2003

This unflinching, music-driven documentary provides the first real insight into the background and career of this legendary Irish artist who, as lead singer and songwriter for the POGUES, became a worldwide punk icon. The film includes contemporary interviews with his family, fellow musicians like NICK CAVE, his longtime partner VICTORIA, and direct one-on-one sessions with MACGOWAN himself. These are interwoven with performance material stretching back to Shane's earliest work, along with fly-on-the-wall footage from both London and Ireland. Includes performances/videos of the songs: "Paddy Public Enemy No.1," "If I Should Fall From Grace With God," "Infatuation," "Gabrielle," and more.

A great documentary about Shane Macgowan. And the special features are pretty good, too. There was only a couple things I didn't like. One thing that I didn't like was that I thought the live perfomances and music videos would show the whole song, but all it did was jump to the part of the movie where the performance or video was featured. Another thing was that there were no subtitles, which made listening to Shane a little difficult after awhile. And the case displayed was different than the one I recieved. But despite this, it's a great documentary and I would recommend it to any Macgowan fan. But if you want to watch live performances, you should get Live at Montreux DVD.

After I watched a friend's copy, I knew I had to have one too. Such an awesome documentary about Shane & The Pogues. It even has some footage of Shane's first band THE NIPPS. This great DVD is turning me into more of a POGUES fan than I already am. I highly recommend you get this!

If you like the pogues but are too young to have ever seen shane mcgowan, buy this. I really like the pogues, and I was really interested in seeing where these lyrics and these songs came from. Shane is really fucked up in this video, hes drunk and he chain smokes the whole time and hes missing a lot of teeth, but shit man, I imagine thats how he always was. There is also some pretty cool old live footage. its not a groundbreaking cinematic work of unparalled genius, but its got some good shit with and about shane that you can't see anywhere else. also, theres some cool nick lowe interviews.
