its interesting to see brendan and chris before the lawrence arms. they have obviously matured a great deal musically since the broadways as this cd is fairly generic and is nothing compared to the more recent lawrence arms stuff.
i would recommend this only if you are already a fan of the lawrence arms and would be interesting in hearing a younger brendan and chris. otherwise, pick up a couple lawrence arms albums first.

Really Awesome cd. Pretty political which is pretty cool. No skippaple songs, my favorite is probably "fuck you larry koeshe, i hope you starve and die someday". Only real complaint is the booklet..... its really fucking hard to decipher where one song lyrics ends and another starts.... oh wel. Go get it... really good.

This is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time. I only listen to punk music, so this is one of my top 5 favorite punk albums of all time. Of all of the Slapstick offspring bands, the Broadways are the best. They were also better than Slapstick. This CD is worth your purchase over any other CD you may be thinking of getting on this website.

Really fcukgin good punk rock from chicago. They really got a solid thing oing on down there( rise against, alkaline trio, the lawrence arms, ryans hope...) and this thing really gets ya. The song about thanksgiving and shit is fucking amazing. Id say buy it just for that song. The singers(theres 2, Brendan Kelly and i dont know the others name) and its very political like how fifteen was. and kinda sound like em too. Id for sure recommend this shit. Oh and get everything dillinger four ever put out. Theyre fucking genious!!!!

Well hey this is a pretty good CD. Personally I like the Lawrence Arms a lot more but the Broadways had their moments.

The album starts off with one of the greatest punk rock songs ever....15! I knew this album would be good, but I had no idea it was a bonified classic! Pick this up right away and sing along with truth-told lyrics!

This is my new favorite album. I also have broken van, but I would say this album is slightly better. "15 minutes" is by far the best song. This is one of the best bands in the Slapstick family tree. I never understood the comparisons between Jawbreaker and The Lawrence Arms. the Broadways remind me much more of Jawbreaker. Overall, this is a must have for any fan of the lawrence arms or Chicago punk in general.

Marilyn is my mom, I'm a guy writing this review.
The Broadways sound like The Lawrence Arms before Brendan had smoked as many cigarettes and Chris does a lot less solo singing then The Lawrence Arms, but this is a really good CD, I think its slightly better than Broken Van.

you ask what was brendan and chris doing before they graced us with the lawrence arms, well they were in the broadways. its pretty much what you'd expect from the midwest, gritty punk with lyrics you cant help to relate to or agree with anyway. if you where going to buy a broadways cd this would be it, i would really bother with broken van as much, but this good. i wasn't excpecting much to be honest, but it turned out to very enjoyable to listen to...

Was 98 a great year for music or what! Catch 22 Keasby Nights, The Ataris Look Forward To Failure, and of course The Broadways Broken Star. Brendan Kelly's best band and that is saying a lot. A total masterpiece from start to finish. One of my absolute favorite cds. Much better than anything the Law Arms or Honer System did (the two bands this band split into)
