Dealing With It (Millenium Edition Reissue)

Beer City 111

Released on April 1, 2003

Where do you go and what do you do when you achieve near legendary status with your debut album? In DRI’s world, you release “Dealing With It”, a record that infused their increasing technicality with a love of metal and the raw, fast as hell Hardcore sound that they patented. Surpassing their debut, was never going to be easy, but with their second album, the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles managed to do just that in maelstrom of vicious, catchy, cerebral Hardcore and Metal.. Reissued on Beer City along with twelve never before heard tracks and interactive video interview footage, DRI’s legacy is once again ready for punk rock and metal consumption. Welcome to Crossover…

D.R.I, one of the fastest punk bands ever. This record proves that. Dont let the crossover label fool you. They do it well. I think Dave Lombardo(drummer of the craziest metal band ever, SLAYER) said that this is his favorite record of all time... Something along the lines of that. I may not agree with that, but that shouldnt stop you from buying this slice of hardcore heaven.

Most of D.R.I's songs are really short, ranging from 20 seconds to 1:30. That is not exactly a bad thing, but it sometimes gets a little bit annoying. The longest songs ("Nursing Home Blues" and "Argument Then War") are easily some of the best songs on the record, which make me wonder how D.R.I sounds when they actually try to write songs over 2 minutes. "I Don't Need Society" is a classic song and my favorite on the record. It has a "Nursing Home Blues" feel at first, then explodes into a classic fast-as-hell-in-your-fucking-face pace. Other great songs are "mad Man", "I'd Rather Be Sleeping", "Counter Attack" and "Snap".

Yeah, its a great record. If you are a Metalhead or a hardcore fan, get it now.
