Ottawa, Canada's CRUSADES began in late 2009. Comprised of current and ex-members of Sedatives, The Creeps, Buried Inside, The Steve Adamyk Band, Last Communion, Zebrassieres, The Visitors, Pregnancy Scares, Black Tower & others, CRUSADES' initial (and ongoing) goal was to provide the somewhat accessible vehicle that is melodic punk rock for decidedly less than accessible ideas - namely atheism, antichristianity, secular humanism, satanism, and a vehement disdain for the crippling disease that is organized religion.
To date CRUSADES has released three records: a self-titled, self-released 7" in 2010 (later repressed by Top Five Records in Germany), a full length LP, titled The Sun is Down and The Night is Riding In (released domestically by It's Alive Records and Razorcake Records, as well as overseas by Hardware Records and Sabotage Records in 2011), the 2-song Parables EP (again released by It's Alive Records domestically and by France's Destructure Records overseas in 2012) which coincided with the band's first tour of Europe and first appearance at The Fest in Gainesville, Florida.
This November will see the release of CRUSADES' 2nd full-length record (and their first for No Idea Records), Perhaps You Deliver this Judgment with Greater Fear than I Receive It. Thematically, it’s a meditation on the life of philosopher, heretic and antichristian martyr Giordano Bruno as an archetype for the modern atheist, freethinker, artist, poet and lover. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Mike Bond at Pebble Studios and his own compound The Bond Cave. CRUSADES will celebrate the album release with performances at The Fest 12 in Gainesville (as well as Pre Fest in Ybor) and a handful of Canadian dates.
