This was my first time hearing The Jam, they were suggested to me by someone who shares the same taste in music as I do. I went with it, and wasn't let down. For a freshmen album I was very impressed with The Jam. They do a great cover song, the and Batman theme is classic! Their original material is good, I wouldn't call it great, but good. They were introduced to me a "clash-like." I think thats a bit much, they just have that good-ole UK sound that came from that era, but I wouldn't class with with Strummer and crew.

The Jam are the best mod revival band ever. This is their debut and it shreds so hard. Furious music with great hooks. I can not tell you to pick up this album enough. And of course, it features the song In The City which caused an arguement between Paul Weller and Sid Vicious(The Sex Pistols stole the bass line) which ultimately ended up with Paul Weller breaking a bottle over his face!

The first and the best of The Jam delivers raw energetic rock'n roll of the finest kind. Paul Weller is a real songsmith, bashing out songs of social importance, but classy enough to knock out some rockin' jive tunes. Even the Batman theme is quite a statement, fighting crime for the new generation with a guitar in hand. Awesome listen, if you have a record player, get this vinyl.
