No Gods

Rise 156

Released on March 20, 2012

Sharks is finally here with their highly anticipated debut full length “No Gods”. They released their first independent EP, Shallow Waters, back in 2008 and drummed up serious buzz while playing with the likes of Gallows, The Wedding Present, and Baby Shambles. Barely old enough to drive, the group garnered critical acclaim from tastemakers such as KERRANG!, The Guardian, and NME for 2010’s Show of Hands EP and incendiary performances supporting The Gaslight Anthem. In April 2011, they released The Joys of Living 2008-2010, a 14 songs collection of previously released tracks and two a band reaching that moment when they are absolutely ready,” while Kerrang called them “one of the Unlike many of their UK predecessors the band has toured extensively, spending sometimes months on end in the United States, zig-zagging across the country playing shows and sleeping in the van. In the United States they have toured with Social Distortion and Stiff Little Fingers, and also spent the summer on the entire Vans Warped Tour. They recently wrapped up 2011 stateside on the Alternative Press Tour with Four Year Strong. They are currently featured in the “Most Anticipated Music of 2012” issue of Alternative Press. The magazine said their music “bristles with a wonderful sense of rock ‘n’ roll heritage that serves as a tribute to fallen heroes such as The Clash, while simultaneously molding those influences into something refreshing and contemporary.” To promote No Gods in the United States, Sharks will be hitting the road with Social Distortion and Frank Turner this spring. Sharks make punk rock steeped in their influences without being derivative of them, underscored by their insane songwriting talent and playing skills. No Gods is sure to become a future classic. brand new ones that garnered them instant acclaim. Zane Lowe praised the collection as “the sound of best bands around.”

Kevin from Houston, TX
Apr 2 2012 Rating: 2/5 Stars not enjoying this like I enjoyed the previous album (collection album). For some reason, I can not get into these songs after many tries. Maybe if I saw them play these new tunes live, maybe I would like them?
