Whatever the hell you want to call the genre they helped perfect, popularize and damn well conceive in the new Millennium,
ATREYU are the heavyweight champions of today’s hard and heavy rock n roll. What began in the sweaty VFW halls of
America’s hardcore scene has exploded into one of the genre’s best success stories and one of VICTORY RECORDS’ best
selling artists.
After tearing their hometown of Orange County to shreds, ATREYU joined the VICTORY RECORDS family in 2002 and released
the band’s debut Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses, and made everyone in the metal, punk, and hardcore scene do a complete
double take on the Southern Californian quintet.
After selling 110,000 copies of their VICTORY RECORDS debut, as well as subsequent sold out tours in the process, the
band released their vicious second album, The Curse in June of 2004 and sold an impressive 34,560 copies in the first week.
They followed that up with a show stealing stint on the metal summer camp Ozzfest, a tour with TAKING BACK SUNDAY
and an international headlining tour with UNEARTH, NORMA JEAN and SCARS OF TOMORROW in early 2005. Add a
headlining slot on the Van’s Warped Tour in the summer of 2005 as well as several high-profile film soundtrack appearances
and a spring 2006 headlining spot on the Taste of Chaos package with DEFTONES and STORY OF THE YEAR, and you have
one of hell of a resume.
A Death-Grip on Yesterday followed in March of 2006 and another spot on the Ozzfest followed, this time as the headliner of the
second stage! The band rose to International stardom headlining three sold-out European tours plus massive festivals such as
The Download Festival at Castle Donington and the Give It A Name festival.
