Suck Out The Poison

Solid State 46616

Released on October 3, 2006

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The hope of sudden success or instant discovery may be enough for aspiring actors to the city of Hollywood, but for the five North Carolina natives that comprise He Is Legend, success has been a continuous endeavor since their inception four years ago. After forming in high school and experimenting with different styles, names, and members they finally found their niche and were soon touring the country. With a debut album under their belts and multiple treks across the nation with the likes of From First to Last, Story of the Year, Emery and Showbread and countless others, He Is Legend are poised to dazzle with their sophomore release, “Suck Out The Poison”!

Finally I bought this album, after a year of saying i'll be getting it. I can't believe what i've been missing out on the last year, this album is absolutely incredible.

I can definetly see why this is not in christian stores, I don't think it is the least bit christian, at least not obviously. But regardless, I love the lyrics, quite eerie. Musically this album is top notch, incredible riffs, vocals are unreal and the melodic parts are so different from most metal bands, it's unreal.

Honestly, this is one of the most solid and appealing albums I own, definetly recomend it. It's not particulary definatively southern, but you can hear it in there. Like I said before, they put on an incredible live show.

The vocalist has an excellent scream, its a raspy, black metalish scream. His singing voice isn't nearly like most other singing in the metal and hardcore world, its very raspy and sounds damaged.

If you like catchy, eerie metal, you need this. It isn't typical "scream/sing" stuff.

This album is far better than "I am Hollywood." The lead singer has a larger vocal range between singing and screaming. There are some pretty sweet breakdowns in this album. The album in general is just better I think. More catchy. A little more rock/metal than their 1st. Very good. Anybody could fall in love with this album. It's bad-ass.

Before 'Suck Out The Poison' came out He Is Legend released a few songs for their fans to hear. Some people enjoyed them and some criticized what the boys had to offer. I was one of the fans that enjoyed what I heard. It did take some time getting used to. 'Mushroom River' is a hard song to digest because we are so used to hearing 'I Am Hollywood' type stuff. With the 4 songs I heard before the album was released I was pleased with what I heard and decided to purchase this album without any hesitation.

It is safe to say after about a billion plays on my iPod I am addicted to this CD. He Is Legend bring something special to the table on this CD. Some speculate that it isn't that great because it's not chalked full of breakdowns or Schuylar's vocals aren't as clean as before. This CD is without a doubt the hardest in my opinion out of He Is Legend. It may not be breakdown galore, but the melodies and lyrics are so catchy. I'll be the first to admit that Schuylar's vocals aren't as clean as they used to be but keep in mind this album is heavier and a lot more southern than their previous work so the vocals weren't that big of a deal to me. I think the vocals are very fitting to the style of play.

With that said this album annihilates. From "Dixie Wolf (The Seduction Of...)" to "(((louds" this album is beautifully constructed. There are a few tracks that might take some getting used to like "Mushroom River" and "Serpent Sickness" however I assure that they'll grow on you if you give them a chance. The best tracks in my opinion are "Dixie Wolf (The Seduction Of...)", "Attack Of The Dungeon Witch", "Suck Out The Poison", "The Widow Of Magnolia", and "(((louds".

So if you're reading this and you haven't bought this album I ask you "what are you waiting for?" If you're a real Legend fan then don't hesitate to buy this. It will surely fall under that category of classic and dare I say... LEGENDARY!

I really enjoyed this buy. I wasn't let down at all from schuylar's vocals to the guitar work. This cd put the hammer down and slapped me in the face just like I wanted. This proves that HE IS LEGEND are going to be great.

Favoraites tracks: 1, 3, 4, 6, 7.
