Me First And The Gimme Gimmes

Love Their Country

Fat Wreck Chords 712

Released on October 17, 2006

ME FIRST and the GIMME GIMMES, the cover band who have single handedly revitalized the careers of many long forgotten artists, are back with their 6th full length entitled Love Their Country. If their stylistic focus this time around isn’t completely clear from the album title or the cover photo, then let me spell it our for you, C-O-U-N-T-R-Y (as in music). The GIMMIES are set to breathe new life into this almost forgotten genre! With a curtsy and a tip of the old ten-gallon hat ME FIRST tear through 12 of country music’s most famous tunes. Songs by the likes of the Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, and Kenny Rogers just to name a few. A supergroup of sorts, bringing together members from NOFX, Lagwagon, The Swingin’ Utters, and the Foo Fighters, it’s no wonder that ME FIRST and the GIMME GIMMES pull off a country record flawlessly. If I didn’t know better I’d think they wrote these tunes themselves. So mosey on up to some sort of cold beverage, and get yourself ready, because the hoedown’s a fixin’ to go down!

At first, I didnt like this album, but it grew on me and now I consider it to be an awesome album, maybe not the best Gimme Gimmes album, but its up there

There's a lot of old school country songs on here. My parents knew every one and I'll admit I only knew about half. The Gimme Gimme's did a good job as usual. If you grew up listening to country you'll get a kick out of this, but it's good even if you haven't heard some of the songs.

Well,...a country album was kinda predictable for the gimmes now as good as I expected...well you know spike improves on every record,it just seems like....runnin' outta ideas, even though has some good songs,as Ghost Riders in The Sky,with an intro from The Yerlekererem's Punza Wais...East Bound Down,Desperado,Goodbye Earl, decent songs, not as good as their previous records,...I think it's tied with Have a Ball,...Ruin Jonny's Barmtizvah, was better, kinda sloppy but I said the Gimmes are runnin' out of ideas,...this band it's a great idea anyway but what's left for the gimmes....the gimmes heavy metal album,....a disco album,a kids music album....there's not that much material anymore.....but...who knows they maybe put out something better next time...after the also predictable gimme gimmes DVD....see ya....
