World/Inferno Friend

Red-Eyed Soul

Chunksaah 26

Released on July 11, 2006

The World/Inferno Friendship Society give you your damn soul back. It's been up all night, thinks everything is hysterical, and keeps humming tunes about Halloween and heroes, love lost and found, and the chivalry of crime. It sweats like whiskey and cries real red wine. It's chiding your friends for being so sad, mumbling, "You bouncers don't scare me one bit," and yelling "I joined a punk-rock band to break stuff, not to sit around lawyers' offices!" at inappropriate moments. Fifteen new songs by NYC's original international Punk-Rock Orchestra of elegant and angry Gentlemen and Ladies produced by Hardcore legend Don Fury and released by New Jersey Pioneer Punk-Rock label Chunksaah! The piano croons, the guitars shout, the drummers threaten, saxophones rip you from where you are tied to the mast, the accordion just stole your wallet, the string section is whispering in your ear, "don't be a jerk," and boys and girls are singing in harmony "only anarchists are . . . pretty!" Life is a cabaret, the circus is leaving town, don't forget the struggle, don't forget the streets.

I think people that like World/Inferno know that they'll like this album. So, if you like World/Inferno buy this album. It seems like some of their older albums are out of print, but this is some of my favorite of their stuff that I've heard.

I didn't know what to expect when I bought this CD. I saw em' live with The Bouncing Souls, The Street Dogs and WHole Wheat Bread and they easily put on the best show of all of them. I had heard such good things about these guys n gals, so I picked this up. I am so glad I did. This music is like caberet-crackrock steady-punk. I mean, its really original. I love this cd and I wish that the rest weren't so damn hard to find.

Solid album. That's really all that came to mind when I first listened to this all the way through. The songs are all so interesting, original and quite different from each other making this such an incredible album to listen to because it's virtually impossible to get bored of the same sounding songs.

World/Inferno Friendship Society have definitely taken their place as one of the best bands I've heard recently.

Ahhhh!!!!! This is awesome music!!!!!!! This band is seriously the most talented, CREATIVE, wonderful, amazing bunch of musicians i've ever fucking heard!!!! And there's so much ENERGY!!!!! I put it on and i just wanna dance my ass off!!!! This band makes me really happy!!!! And there's so many different type songs that it never gets old!!!! I love it, i fuckin love it!!! I love the horns....and the xylephone, and the hot bass player!!!!

My favorite song is Me vs. Angry Mob....especially during the hard part towards the end, when they go "i miss you bastaaaaaaard waahhhhhhhh" booooooshhhhhh splam wam WAM WAM BAM!!!! BASH THOSE FUCKING DRUMS FUCKER!!!!!!!!11@#%^!#@ And he just smashes the fucking drums as hard as he can while she ploinks the piano and the lead singer is just rocking the fuck out in his badass suit cuz he's such a badass.

And my other favorite songs are Fiend In Wein cuz of the accordion and Let's Steal Everything!!

Oh, and i would also suggest getting the vinyl too, cuz it's a double disc on RED vinyl and the 3 bonus songs are amazing.

World/Inferno does it again. There are some truly amazing songs on this cd. I'm still debating whether I like this, or Just The Best Party more. If you can't decide, just get both. This cd seems a little more laid back, less crazy fast songs. Stand out tracks would definetly be Brother of the Mayor Bridgewater, The Velocity of Love, Me V. The Angry Mob, Hothouse Flowers, Me and the Mad Monkettes, and Fiend in Wien. Amazing amazing cd. Buy it.

in the last few months, world/inferno has grown to be one of my favorite bands. i cant stop telling everyone person i know about them and every person ive played it for no matter what they listen has loved them. they are by far the most interesting, fun, and innovating bands of today and it will be a shame if they dont get their dues.

Imagine Alkaline Trio meets Gogol Bordello. That's perhaps the best thing i can come up with to describe World/Inferno. Yet they're so much more than that : among other epithets, i've read circus, cabaret, punk rock orchestra... all of those fit but are still incomplete descriptions, as this bands seems to draw influences from so many directions at the same time. "Red Eyed Soul" is catchy as hell (pun intended), uplifting, funny, grotesque, festive as a boisterous and furious witches' sabbath could possibly be. It makes you want to dance, shout, jump and sing all along. A fine record, really.
