A Death Grip On Yesterday

Victory 267

Released on March 28, 2006

$12.50

ATREYU exploded from the bitter depths of bright and sunny Orange County, California in 2002, with their sights set on creating the standard for hard rock in the new millennium. ATREYU is taking the world by the throat once again with their stunningly intense and highly anticipated new album, A Deathgrip On Yesterday. Quickly devouring any preconceived notions about their trademark metallic riffs and evil, thunderous, guttural vocals, ATREYU have not only written the book on exceeding expectations and reinventing genres, they continue to live it with A Deathgrip On Yesterday. Josh Abraham, respected producer for his work on albums with KORN, VELVET REVOLVER and STAIND, manned the controls on A Deathgrip on Yesterday. The result is nothing less than a haunting masterpiece that picks up where 2004’s smash, The Curse, left off.

ok so Atreyu... Everyone has got their own opinion on this band. Mine being that they are one of my favorites. Have been since I heard "Suicide Notes", since then I've been a fan. Even through "The Curse". It wasn't my most favorite piece from Atreyu, but it had it's Ups and Downs. This CD however is short and sweet I guess you could say. I loved every song on it. I do wish that they would've put a lil more work into it and released it with a few more songs...BUT this is what we got and I enjoyed it very much. Keep at it Atreyu! Can't wait to see you live again next month!

I cant tell you how excited i was for atreyu's newest album to come out, when i got it i kinda forgot what i was excited for. With only 9 tracks on their newest album, i was bummed by how short the songs are. The high points of the album would have to be the great metal riffs, and awesome guitar solos. Although they have gone more mainstream, i will always love what these guys do. I guess they can never duplicate the same success of suicide notes and butterfly kisses.

I loved Fractures... and Suicide Notes... and I guess The Curse had it's moments. On this cd some of the songs are reminiscent of the Atreyu of old but songs like 'the theft' are laughable. If Atreyu continue to follow this direction I'm sad to say it's the last cd of theirs I'll buy. If you prefer the first two Atreyu releases to the Curse I'd avoid this but if you prefer the curse you'll lap this up.

I used to love Atreyu, but I just can't get into this album. Nothing new, nothing exciting, it just seems to me that metalcore is getting generic.

Well I said 4...prolly more like 3.5...its definatly not bad. But its not the Atreyu i like on all the songs. If you are looking for more Sucide Notes dont get this...there is alot more singing...and some if it is kind of emo...like Ex's and O's...but its still good...just dont expect really hard post hardcore.

For sure better than the Curse, for sure not better than Suicide notes... I like it alot because the heavier parts are done very well and most of the singing I can actually stand where with the curse I wanted to shoot the drummer in the face evertime I heard his voice. This would have gotten 5 stars, however they put song #4 on it which is the absolute worst song Atreyu ever wrote hands down. But besides that its a really good cd check it out. Best track is Your Private War.

Personally I think their previous two cd's were better. It has a few songs worth listening to, however, if you are a big fan of Atreyu, I'd definently reccomend this cd.

Simply great. I'm kinda sad it was only 9 songs, suppose to be 10, but "Her Portrait in Black" is on the Underworld: Evolution Soundtrack. There's a DVD with it too that has like a 30 minute special on the making of, which is good for a tech freak like me. Oh and it has the video for the above song on it. "Creature", "Shameful", "The Theft" and "Ex's and Oh's" are the stand out songs on here.

InterPunk, you guys rule. This cd is really good. It is a little different than Atreyu's other stuff, but just as good and just as amazing. This cd made me want to go to practice with my band (ABBESS) imediateley after hearing it. I recomend this cd to anyone who enjoys strong, well writen, and well produced music. This is a cd you can listen to over and over and over again.
