Everybody's Favorite Weapon

(Mars Volta, Sublime, Long Beach Dub Allstars)

GSL 85

Released on June 22, 2004

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Isaiah "Ikey" Owens is familiar to many as the flamboyant, boisterous keyboard maestro in THE MARS VOLTA, and their reggae-tinted alter-ego, DE FACTO. His track record speaks volumes, having also performed as a member of SUBLIME and LONG BEACH DUB ALLSTARS. He has done session work with SHUGGIE OTIS, BLOWFLY, BARRINGTON LEVY, WAILING SOULS, and RADIOINACTIVE, to name a few. Since 2002, he's been writing and recording under the moniker FREE MORAL AGENTS, releasing a vinyl-only EP on Pete Records, as well as the recent GSL split 12" with SUBTITLE. Between relentless globe-hopping tours with THE MARS VOLTA during the past year, Ikey has been gradually applying the finishing touches to the collection of songs which constitute his first solo album. With the production skills of Jeff Harris and noteworthy vocal contributions from rapper J and the golden-throated Mendee Ichikawa, Everybody's Favorite Weapon is a vibrant, colorful journey through the rainbow of sounds lurking within Ikey's brain. Jazzy piano interludes give way to throbbing beats and lush instrumentation, while the vocals range from SAUL WILLIAMS-inspired political poetry to spacey, angelic harmonies. The CD also includes a Quicktime video for the track "Lay Down", directed by Simon Chan (KILL ME TOMORROW, SHAPESHIFTERS, etc.), shot on 16 mm film and featuring Ikey, Jeff and Mendee.

i am really open to new music styles, i like a lot of different bands of different genres but hell i cant find words how annoying this album is..... if you are a sublime fan do yourself a favour and do not waste your money in this only because there are members of this band playing there, it has nothing to do with sublime or lbda at all
