Ris Paul Ric

Purple Blaze

(Q And Not U)

Academy Fight Song 1

Released on November 8, 2005

$12.00
Buy

RIS PAUL RIC is the solo project of Chris Richards, ex-guitarist/singer from Q AND NOT U. RIS PAUL RIC was created when Chris travelled up to Ottawa, Ontario in January 2005 and worked with electronic musician/producer, Tim Hecker. Purple Blaze incorporates hushed vocals, guitar run through delays, a touch of bass and some quiet percussion added to the mix. Chris brought a quieter element to it, as it was written in his bedroom while Q AND NOT U was taking some time off in between touring. Overall, the album has more of an improvisational element to it, more aligned with the quieter songs on 'Power' and displays his affection for musical inspirations such as Suicide & Prince. He will be touring in Oct/Nov to support the release.

good cd, but much different than i was expecting. not everyone will appreciate this cd. acoustic guitars and vocals similar to q & not u (obviously). some songs are just background noises. i don't know why, but some songs reminded me of 80's music, but in a good way. haha. this is a cd that you can listen to all the way through over and over again, so it's definately a good cd. buy this if you're looking for something different.

This is the jam of the year! Buy this if you liked Q and not U...hell, buy this if you like music. Ris did a really good job of breaking into the solo thing in a unique fashion...it's far from the mopey pretentious singer-songwriter stuff you expect to hear from most fresh solo acts. Some Fresh Jamz is "Run up Wild on Me", "Colonialism", "Demo was a Runaway", "Hanging from the Grapevine","Purple Blaze", and finally "Daft Young Cannibals". He puts on a very engaging live show too and usually plays electric which puts an even more interesting spin on these songs, i strongly suggest catching it sometime.
