Jello Biafra And The Melvins

Sieg Howdy

Alternative Tentacles 350

Released on September 27, 2005

Like WWI had it's WWII and the Gulf War had its Iraqi Freedom, you can't expect an event of epic proportions to end without proper follow-through: hence, Alternative Tentacles presents the second installment from Jello Biafra and the Melvins! "Never Breath What You Can't See" (2004) fed the world, in alternating fistfulls, the MEVLINS' sonic brutality and Biafra's erudite lyrical jesting - and the world cried for more. "Sieg Howdy" features songs recorded during the "Never Breathe..." sessions, as well as remixes by Al Jourgensen (ministry/lard), Dalek, and Dale Crover (MELVINS). And you know that Biafra, the consummate record collector, would not even think of releasing another record unless it's good enough to stand on its own! It doesn't matter if you missed the boat the first time of if you couldn't get enough, the dominion of Jello Biafra and the Mevlins is from from over: be prepared yet again to let the most twisted minds in rock detonate your mind.

Jello is most definitely back. The Melvins sound great but Jello is the reason this works. It is worth a buy just for the song "Those Dumb Punk Kids (Will Buy Anything)". It takes a big swipe at the his former band mates in the Dead Kennedys and the way things are in the scene through the eyes of a punk legend. Don't support the fake "new" Dead Kennedys if they come to your town. Stick with the guy who wrote the songs. The album would get a 5 but I feel a little cheated with it only having 10 songs.

If you like the Jelvins first record, you'll probably like this one too. However, I'd say the first one is a little better, and if you don't have either I'd get that one first.

I absoultely love the Melvins. With jello, who can this not be a killer release? It sounds more punk than metal grundge.Sounds Like earlyier "My war" by black flag. the songs are very dynamic and longer with amazing melodies. All melvins fans should get this.

Another great release from Jello Biafra, I really like the more experomental, less 4/4/verse/chorus/bridge/verse stuff on this release.

Although, am I the only one whose copy has the tracks in the wrong order? "Kali-Fornia Uber Alles" is listed as track 5 on the CD, but it's actually track 7. Bizzarre ha?

I recommend this to anyone who's into the Dead Kennedys (duh) or other older style punk bands. There's even a few parts that remind me of Black Flag here, its all good. The remixes are quite interesting too.
