A solid release compared to FTLOM, which was a little weak. THis guy mangages to blend various styles into his own little brand of feel good, anti-racist, pop music. Mike Park gets my vote for kick-ass artist of the year. how about you ????

I am torn over this album. I really am. Mike Park has great ideas, however his execution is sometimes rather lazy. His first album was great because it was all acoustic and all solo. This album has more instruments and is more polished. I think the problem areas on this album are similar to those on "For The Love of Music." When Mike Park writes a great song, it's fantastic. His problem is not with quality overall but with quantity of good songs. The poor songs are usually a result of terrible rhymes or lines that don't seem to match up because one is much longer than the other. The man is awesome and he has some great ideas. However, his expression of those ideas only hits the mark about half of the time. The music on this album is beautfiul and the vocals are... about the same as they always were. Really, the only problem is with the organization of lyrics. You can write fantastic lyrics, but if you don't know how to implement them properly into a song, you end up sounding like an amateur. If you like Mike Park, pick this up. If you've never heard him, you might want to try his first effort. Who knows? Maybe I would like this more if I heard it first. Anyways, he fights for a great cause and he is a nice guy. Give him a chance and form your own opinion.
